About this mod Machine translation

Fixed player damage reduction formula to make every point of armor/resistance worth it.

Introduction:

Skyrim's loss formula is linear, which has two main problems:

Damage limit. To prevent players from taking damage, Skyrim provides a reduced damage cap. This means that once this cap is reached, all armor/resistance points above that cap will be worthless.

The closer you get to 100% damage reduction, the more useful each point of damage reduction is. This means that armor/resistance has almost no effect in the early game, but is very powerful later in the game.

This mod provides two alternative formulas to solve these problems:

hyperbola:

Hyperbola ensures that every point of armor/resistance increases durability by the same absolute value.

This formula is used in several other games and is the default for this mod as it is consistent with other values such as damage and health levels.

index:

Exponential ensures that each point of armor/resistance increases durability by the same percentage.

This is closer to vanilla than hyperbola, and makes it easier to achieve very high damage effects.

Both formulas can be configured with two scaling parameters:

Damage reduction when vanilla resistance is 0: Allows you to set the damage reduction required when a player has 0 vanilla resistance. Normally 0, so if your resistance is 0, there will be no damage reduction. For example, this setting can be used to balance physical and magical damage.

100*Vanilla Damage Reduction on Resistance: You can set 100*vanilla damage reduction required by the player when resisting. The default is 75, which means if you have 100 magic resistance, you take 75% less damage.

*For armor, it is changed to 1000 since armor usually has much higher resistance than others.

Mod configuration menu:

On Magic, Element, Armor and Poison you can switch the scaling of these resistors and set the scaling parameters on the page. On the right you can preview how the resistor will be rescaled using the current parameters.

My Resistors shows you your current vanilla resistors and rescaled resistors, so you can see the effect of the mod directly. If you changed some settings on the previous pages, you should exit the menu to give the game time to update the resistance.

On Advanced you can toggle the scaling of the entire mod. If you plan to uninstall the mod, you must disable rescaling here, otherwise the values will not revert to their original values.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
