Skyrim Scripting Extension (SKSE), version 1.7.2 (or newer) is required to run RaceMenu.
If you don't know, or can't install SKSE yourself I recommend watching:
English SKSE installation video by Little Vole
German SKSE installation video by Frank Sirius
RaceMenu related SKSE plug-ins:
CHARGEN extension (includes core with RaceMenu2.5 and larger)
NetImmerse coverage standalone (including RaceMenu2.0 and higher)
ECE RaceMenu migration look:
CHARGENExport
If you experience crashes while opening the menu please consider acquiring the optional download DisableFaceGenCache (integrated with version 2.7+, no longer required). This SKSE plugin disables caching the FaceGen part capable of crashing your game if you have a lot of hair/eyes/eyebrows plugins installed.

High resolution costumes
INI settings added to SKSE allow higher resolution costumes to be applied to your character. The default resolution is 256, which is a terrible resolution if you want to do some really fancy costumes.
Locate your data directory
If the SKSE folder has not been created yet
Create SKSE. INI if it does not exist yet
Add category for "[display]"
Add "iTintTextureResolution=2048"
Your data/SKSE/SKSE.ini should look like this:
(show)
iTintTextureResolution=2048
Going high resolution should be possible but I only tested it on 2048.
NOTE: This may cause lower resolution textures to look worse due to upscaling, hopefully this will encourage higher resolution alternatives.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
