Mod that replaces the player's vanilla armor with a fake vanilla model for you to use. Make it flirty or not.
I made a mod that allows you to equip a replica vanilla armor for later use. You can make it feel lightweight or you can make it just another vanilla set, it's not flippant or whatever you want. This will only include body, hand and foot armor, not headgear.
This mod uses these spells. There are two types of player spells. Toggle armor swapping (players) and disable armor swapping (players)
Toggle will allow you to enable and disable the primary spell in exchange for armor models, and it will continue to function until you cast the spell again to remove it. Disabling will allow you to simultaneously cancel the main spell and swap back to the vanilla model.
There are also NPC versions of these spells. They are cape and single target types. They work the same as player spells, but only change the NPC's equipment and do not support any mods that add new equipment (unless patched). The cloak will be worn by human NPCs until you disable it.
Warning: This mod, the player version anyway, uses... I'd say 35 scripts just for armor swapping. Each is divided, so that makes 70 scripts for two spells. However, the npc version only uses about 10 scripts 3 for each costume swap disabling and switching, and the rest for adding/casting spells. The code is simple but large, maybe too big.
There is some lag when you switch to another set of armor with player spells, but this only works if the armor is equipped. It will automatically update for 5 seconds to check if you have vanilla armor equipped. Disable will only update every 1 second for 5 seconds and then cancel itself. Npc equipment spells will be executed simultaneously. have
Two ways to use this mod are you can just use the player spell (recommended) to swap yourself for a thin model, or you can use the Npc equipment spell to swap the Npc for the disguised vanilla's clothing. The fake model will be packaged into BSA.
Any harebrained armor replacer mods will probably need a patch.
Armor will be placed as follows:
Just create a new folder called "Npc" and move the modified replacement armor into the npc folder
Player Vanilla->Player Imprudent
or
Npc flippant -> Npc vanilla
“ Meshes \ Npc \ armor \ daedric \ daedriccuirass_1.nif”
“ meshes \ Npc \ clothes \ archmage \ m \ archmagerobesm_1.nif”
“ meshes \ Npc \ dlc01 \ armor \ awnguard \ dawnguardbody1f_0.nif“
” meshes \ Npc \ dlc02 \ clothes \ darkelf \ f \ outfit_1.nif“
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
