About this mod Machine translation
A new tree model including grass, terrain and other options to create your ideal tree setup.
I have been a professional horticulturist for the past 30 years, and during that time I have thoroughly observed flora in many settings and lighting settings, including plant hunting expeditions in the Himalayas, some of which were incredibly reminiscent of Skyrim. I combined my experience with available Skyrim resources to make a new tree model that takes into account lore, climate, aspects, and environment. It covers all of Skyrim.
Myrkvior includes updated tree models, updated textures, new super lods, new billboards and improved animations. I also made matching terrain LODs and matching grass textures. Together they make up a series of mods I'm working on called "The Flora of Skyrim", or TFoS, that are designed to be used together. The effect is an immersive landscape with no transitions and its blended colors result in an uninterrupted view that would be difficult to achieve with a bright ENB like NLA.
Newer trees replaced the vanilla trees, while I introduced large, lush pine trees into the vanilla mix. This includes green pine, cedar (heavy and light), dead pine, aspen, trees, etc. Since I wanted to preserve views through the trees, we did it very carefully.
In addition, a lot of work went into balancing texture colors, editing vertex colors, etc. to ensure that all the various tones and tones flowed naturally and were homogeneous. This significant work means that all trees in the game, from loadout models to 3D Ultra Lods, Billboard2 and beyond, receive light accurately and realistically.
New ultralods and their associated textures have also been tweaked and updated throughout. New ultralods solve many weird lighting issues and are further optimized to reduce Vram usage.
I also used DynDOLOD's advanced billboard feature called Billboard2. They have a normal map added to them, which improves their response to natural light. I used 4 point light capture in Nifskope to generate new normals that have spherical normal vectors with bidirectional/tangent lines, unlike the vanilla billboard. This means they can react to sunlight and cloud shadows in real time.
Grass is an edited version of Verdant because Preeums selected outstanding plants. His works are like the skyline one might find in northern climates. The terrain mesh and textures from The Flora of Skyrim were created using xLodGen. I edited all the tundra landscape textures to better match the grass textures above and now have the Classic finished. However, the SSE version is still WIP. I can post what I have, but it's not up to date, so until it's good enough, I recommend SSE users install Verdant for grass and Cathedral for Landscape terrain and textures.
This is based on my own ENB, a personalized derivative of NLA that is as realistic as possible, so it should look good on most settings. FEATURES
The main features are:
The large snow trees of the Northeast have been pushed back to the north of the Name Mountains, away from the northwest coastline. Vanilla snow trees cover the rest of the map, except for the SE Falkreath area, where I placed various models from SFO.
Falkreath Forest features huge, dense trees that naturally disperse into Riverwood and beyond. This has the effect of making Falkreath Forest feel massive and claustrophobic. The addition of spare snow trees makes the entire area feel unique.
Morthal Marsh I have always kept vanilla with dead trees and dead pine. Check out my alternative mod for Swamp of Dilon Vul
For Reach, I've changed 25% of the existing dead trees to leafy green versions. You can also add some Vurt Large Junipers.
The forest surrounding Solitude and Dragon Bridge is dotted with various shades of green aspen trees. Or, replace them with oak trees
The aspens in this mod are the standard green color, they are slightly larger than vanilla. Available in both large and standard sized aspen netting with patches available in realistic aspe …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
