Location:
You'll be able to find him in Whiterun, wandering the market (or inside the Banner Mare at night). There is no requirement to make him a follower. Just ask him to follow and he is yours. However, I may add a mission at some point (probably in the far future) to make it more immersive.

Features:
He is a faithful companion - he will follow you to Sovngarde and back. He is not a fighter and will run away from a fight, but he will always come back when it is safe and will make up for it in other ways.
He's safe - weapons will pass right through him, and magic won't even smoke his fur. He cannot and will not be harmed. I'm not going to resurrect my dog, just have him killed by some bandits.
He is unique - depending on the weather, he applies various magic effects to the game designed to help and guide players. This is based on the idea I mentioned in the introduction, that I feel him in the sun, etc. The effects themselves are a work in progress and will be improved based on weather conditions, with more effects added in each weather (see the "To Do" list).
The current effect is as follows:
Clear skies and warm sunshine will enhance health.
Cloudy skies will increase Magicka's regeneration.
Rainy weather will increase physical recovery.
Foggy weather would have increased the sneak attack skill, but that doesn't currently work, and I may change this effect in the future anyway.
Nothing is being done on the current snow day. This is not permanent. In the future, I plan to add custom settings specifically for this weather (see the "To Do" list for more information).
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
