About this mod Machine translation
New door meshes and textures with custom animations and matching sounds for all forts in Skyrim.
notes
I started creating the mesh for this mod in April knowing I would be taking a break for a while to continue working on my gear mods, which I hope to release this summer.
When I create metal locks on doors, I always have nice custom animations in my head to actually rotate and move the levers and locks, but I have absolutely no idea how to create them.
In early June, I started delving into the depth of animation in Nifskope.
Hey, let me tell you, these depths are deeper, darker, and more dangerous than some of Skyrim's dungeons.
Sometimes I just want to delete all files and move on.
It's crazy how tedious and intimidating it can be to create animations in Nifskope.
When I finished the opening animation I was happy that it finally worked, only to realize that in game it didn't work at all.
The animation is completely different and it drives me crazy.
After a few hours of fiddling, I finally found what I had to change to make the animation look the same as Nifskope.
There are a lot of little settings and tweaks that have to match up perfectly to make it work.
If you need help with custom animations feel free to contact me, I may be able to help right now since I survived the animation dungeon and completed this mod...
There are some glitches, such as sometimes a closed door showing an open lock.
If you travel somewhere else and come back later it's ok again, I don't know why that would be.
Two or three of the door nets have no animations since they are only used twice in the game in one dungeon, so I didn't bother.
Other grids have been used hundreds of times and are more important to me.
Installation and compatibility
I highly recommend MO2 as a mod manager.
Have my mods door meshes and textures overlay other mods' files.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
