About this mod Machine translation
Added four cat mounts from Masters of the Universe: Battle Cat, Panthor (backed and unworn), and Cringer. Includes custom textures.
Master of the Universe Mount
Emerging from the mysterious wilds of Eternia, new big cat mounts have arrived in the lands of Skyrim. Coming from opposite sides of the ancient conflict between good and evil, they put aside their differences to work alongside the Dragon God for the betterment of Tamriel.
This mod adds four cat mounts from Masters of the Universe:
Battle Cats: He-Man's ferocious, armored, green and yellow tiger,
Panthor: Skeletor's feral cat, purple and armored like Battle Cat,
Panthor: Skeletor's cat again, but without the armor,
Klinger: Battle Cat's cowardly alter ego.
Like many people, I have fond memories of MOTU from my childhood and wanted to see them featured in Skyrim. When I came across tumbajamba's armored sword cat loadout mod, I was inspired to reframe it to bring Battle Cat and Panthor into my games. I can't find any finished, released mod that does this - so here's something for everyone. CAT
cat
The Battle Cat and Panthor are slightly larger than the standard Sword Cat, have fairly strong stats, and are level 50. The Panthor comes in two variants, one with armor and one without a saddle. The difference is just cosmetic. All three cats have the same statistics.
Cringer has lower stats and smaller size to reflect the difference in power of his alter ego. His weight is level 25, half the weight of other cats. He will also fight unless he is stronger than the enemy, and the fighting cat will stay in the fight unless very effectively.
All cats are located near Honningbrew Meadery outside Whiterun.
Compatibility and known issues
Armor texture replacer:
MOTU mounts are designed to be as independent as possible from other modules and textures. This means you don't need to install other mods for this. This also means that the MOTU Mounts use a new texture path, so the Elf Armor texture replacers won't affect Battle Cat or Panthor, as they will use Tumbajamba's Armored Sword Cat.
Honningbrew Meadery suburb:
MOTU mounts may conflict with any mods that change the landscape or place new stuff around Honningbrew Meadery and across the river. I'm not aware of any specific conflicts at the time of publishing; if an issue is reported, I may see an issue regarding mobile cats.
Swimming and other custom installation Mods:
When installing a custom mount into water, you may encounter an issue that causes the player character to appear to be swimming in mid-air above the mount. This is due to Skyrim not having swimming animations installed for some mobs. Most mount mods solve this problem by disabling their mount's swimming animation. There are different methods that cause some mods to break another fix. MOTU Mounts use a workaround that works for *all* saber cat mounts and will not affect unmounted cats regardless of how mods add them. Make sure the MOTU Mounts are lower than the other saber cat mount mods in your load order.
Clip:
The cat's body can penetrate the saddle armor in certain positions and animations, especially on the flanks around the ribs. I've reduced the clipping as much as possible, but I can't fix it yet.
CTD on Cats’ death:
For some reason, Skyrim crashes if one of the cats dies. This is an issue with the skeleton, but I'm not sure exactly why. To prevent this CTD, cats are essential and must not die.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
