About this mod Machine translation
With this mod, ringlets can now be forged, corundum's proper name is now "copper", jade ringlets (a non-metal) are now glass (made using malachite (a metal)), (blue) moonstone is now simple orichalcum (placeholder) and only moonstone and onyx ringlets can be crafted.
Just discovered (before uploading) that there is another mod called "Improved Craftable Circles" that shares the core principles of this mod. My version does differ from other mods and has several new features.
Additionally, this mod does not use or modify any files from Improved Craftable Rings, Craftable Rings, or Jewelry Crafting.
I originally wanted to use JewelCraft myself, but was disappointed with its ingot recipe and the further expansion that the mod brings. I even have some ideas of my own. The purpose of this mod is to keep the iron and copper (corundum) crafting recipes for Steel unchanged, while still offering to rename corundum to copper and allow players to forge small rings.
feature:
Corundum ore, veins and ingots are now copper (the smelting recipe for steel only makes sense now). (Fixed sorting)
Jade circles are now glass circles and are therefore crafted using malachite.
Blue moonstone (texture) is now regular moonstone. (fixed)
Sapphire gemstones are no longer gray. (fixed)
The small onyx circle has been renamed Orichalcum, so it is made with Orichalcum.
Adjust the price of the ringlet to match (or slightly increase) the value of the items used in the recipe.
The stones required for the craft must be flawless.
Circlets have been renamed to fit the naming structure of necklaces and rings, such as "Gold and Ruby Circlets" instead of "Gold and Ruby Circlets". (fixed)
reason:
Since the jade ring is green and metallic, unlike jade itself, I chose a green-like metal for its crafting recipe: malachite. To compensate for the blue tint, I retextured the emerald pebbles to look like malachite and even renamed them Glass Circlets, like Glass Armor.
I won't be adding Onyx to the game as this is my first mod (no real mod development experience before), so as a placeholder I will use Orichalcum instead of Ebony. Ebony isn't very accessible early in the game, and the only onyx ring available was originally worth 50, so I figured Orichalcum could be used as a cheap green gem instead, even though it's actually metal.
The purpose of using flawless grade gems is to prevent players from churning out more expensive coteries for profit. It also makes no sense for Jarls to wear jewelry that is so easy to make.
Change log
1.1:
The sapphire is no longer so bright. Looks more appropriate compared to rubies and emeralds in small circles.
Moonstone looks more like moonstone than moonstone
Adjust texture files slightly for consistency. If using Mod Manager, just replace the original file with it.
1.0:
Initial release.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
