About this mod Machine translation
Malazon is an island I created while playing around with landscape editing and simulating towns in classic Skyrim. This is the first island I've ever made using NPCs and nearby dungeons, and my first ever attempt at creating something like this. I decided to release this as a beta because there's always room for improvement on goals I might have missed and I feel like it's not 100% polished yet. As a downloader, I hope you have fun exploring this new area and seeing what this location has to offer. If you're having issues with the game, check out the (important!) section below and be aware of it as your issue may be related to some of the listings there.
Malazon is an island discovered by the Eastern Empire Company while transporting goods and building materials over long distances. They were mid-voyage when a storm drove them off course. Longing for a land of refuge anywhere, they stumble upon an unknown land. After the storm passed, they decided to use the goods delivered to colonize the uninhabited land, as in the current conditions they would be unable to proceed. After settling here for a while, the East Empire Company returned to the lonely dock where they later reported the entire ordeal. The island has since become a daily part of trade routes, with occasional trips to and from the mainland and its citizens and travelers.
I don't consider myself a skilled modder, I make mods in my spare time as a hobby and I try to do the best I can at any given time. This mod is created and balanced around classic Skyrim's lighting, atmosphere and assets, so keep in mind that everyone uses different things, such as ENB, Lighting Mod, Tamriel's climate, maybe they have different calibrated monitors, etc., so if you have lighting issues, keep in mind that it may be difficult to balance the visual look for everyone. It's worth mentioning that the LOD generation for the V0.1 version of the world map seems to leave a gap in the middle of the ocean display, which is just aesthetically detrimental, but the map functions well and is better than the default Skyrim display map.
Don't cower anywhere within this Isle mod, load this mod normally by going to the East Empire Company warehouse near Loneliness and setting sail on the dock at the dock for best results. If you encounter any issues, please go to the Bugs section and file a private bug with me (via the checkbox at the bottom left of the Bug Reporter) with details about the issue or any related mods you think are relevant (if applicable). This way I can better understand how to assess the situation and major mods in time for updates.
I've tried my best to clean up this mod using Tes5edit, so if for any reason you still have any issues with Tes5edit, I apologize in advance. Another thing to mention is that everyone's load order may be different depending on the mods they have installed (5-x the number of mods), so this creates different scenarios for everyone and a different gameplay experience that I haven't tested. I personally recommend keeping a copy of the Skyrim game or Skyrim Data folder in a safe place when modifying the game with my or other people's mods. This is just a safety precaution, I like to use and recommend, external drives/large USB drives have become cheaper and cheaper over the years, so you can buy a 64GB drive from Amazon for around $15-20, depending on your location.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
