About this mod Machine translation
There is a magic number for voice checks. If you have more skills than this, you will always pass. If you have less, you never will. That's unrealistic. Sometimes it goes south for sure, and sometimes you get away with things you should never do, just because you're lucky.
When doing a speech check in Skyrim, it is compared to the global value that stores the minimum speech. In the vanilla game, these values are immutable, only a perk can change them.
This mod will reset the skill check threshold every time a persuasion check is passed or every 24 hours. The values are normally distributed, so they are usually very close to the vanilla values plus or minus a few points. However, on particularly lucky days, voice checking will be easier than otherwise. And vice versa; sometimes, on bad days, you have to have higher presentation skills to pass the same check.
This mod aims to complement Andreaphus' How hard is this persuasion check? I suggest that if you use this mod, you can also use that one. It's good to know the difficulty of the skill check, but I don't want to know the exact value that will work every time. This makes it less interesting.
The default range of possible skill checks is centered around the vanilla value, but has a larger standard deviation to provide variability. Volumes are capped between 0 and 100. However, if you don't like my setup (which is fair, no judgment), all of this is configurable in MCM.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
