About this mod Machine translation
Use carefully spliced and redesigned dialogue to allow the citizens of Morthal to communicate with each other. In addition to providing residents with a more immersive timeline, it expands the skills and background knowledge of Benor, Eisa Blackthorn, Valdimar, and Erandur.
Denizens of Morthal are dialogue and character expansions for the residents of the fortress capital of Morthal. It changes the characters' timelines and allows them to talk to each other. It also gets an overhaul of characters with ties to the region, namely Benor, Erandur, Valdimar, Eisa Blackthorn, and Meeko.
This mod is a small piece of my highest ambition, to make Skyrim's populace more talkative like oblivious good guys, but to have more appropriate and meaningful conversations. My focus right now is on individual conversations between specific characters, but I'd like to be able to implement quest-related gossip after completing a quest. The mod's audio has been in the works since late 2016 and has been carefully spliced and redesigned.
Inevitably, this mod will edit characters and locations touched by other mods. If you'd like to make compatible patches for characters or any areas I've edited that conflict, please feel free to do so. Please view the Permissions tab for more details.
Current Situation: Mosar City is a desolate town that seems cut off from the main events of Skyrim, and the people there tend to like it that way. After the death of King Torig, the inhabitants found themselves host to representatives of the Imperial Legion.
As the distinctive smell of ongoing civil war grows stronger every day, people are becoming increasingly nervous and wary of the outside world. Rumor has it that local wizards are secretly performing powerful dark magic, and a plot is brewing to overthrow Jarl Edgrod.
Laelette's sudden disappearance, followed by the tragic deaths of little Helgi and her mother, does nothing to lift the veil of fear and distrust that hangs over the town like fog over the surrounding swamp.
Changes:
Morthal is a livelier place now. Nowadays, most people dine at the Moorside Inn on certain days and talk about topics that are near and dear to their hearts. As planned, Bernal is now actually patrolling the area, Lami can be found searching for alchemical ingredients in the swamps, Alva can be found guarding and lurking outside Falion's house at night, Jonna is visited by little Agni, while a confused Virkmund searches the town for the will that marks his missing mother, and much more...
The completion of the journey to rest had a huge impact on some citizens. You'll notice things like Virkmund starting to spend more time with his father and Benor focusing on a certain cave instead of the burned house. dialogue:
This mod adds approximately 173 NPC to NPC dialogues. Most of these conversations take place in Morthal, but some are designed to have specific characters talking to each other (usually involving Benor, Eisa, Valdimar, and Erandur), as well as their connections to others in different locations, so make sure to include these four characters on your travels!
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
