About this mod Machine translation

This mod adds a quest to the game that dispels the lore behind the Konahrik Mask and its namesake Dragon Priest, and allows you to upgrade the mask with better enchantments. That's right, you can face the mighty Konahrik yourself.

The SE version is available here:

Konahrik, the dragon priest's champion, never dies. Although he was killed in the Dragon War, his soul was preserved in the Soul Gem and assigned to the powerful dragons for safekeeping. Now that the dragon has been resurrected, Konahrik's return may be coming soon. It is your duty to prevent this great evil from rising again.

Introduction

For me, the Konahrik mask is disappointing in two ways. The first is that its enchantments aren't all that interesting, especially considering the amount of work required to actually obtain the mask. The second is that there's no story to tell, other than some dead guy trying to take it himself. There's no sign of the Konahrik Dragon Priests, and no explanation as to why it's locked out, just sort of. This mod attempts to solve both problems.

Overview

This is a quest mod designed to add some lore after the unique mask Konahrik and improve its charisma to some extent. To begin exploring, head to Bromjunaar Sanctuary to read the new gory notes in the Twists and Skeletons (not The Love Letters of Hired Thugs; that's a whole new note). From there, you will be taken to the deceased's colleague, who will ask you to bring his Konahrik Mask from within the city of Bromnarnar. Then, under his guidance, you'll use the powerful Guardian Dragon to reassemble Konahrik's Soul Gem and remove it for good. After defeating the eponymous priest, you will receive an improved version of the Konahrik Mask, with an even more powerful enchantment than the original mask.

mask

The upgraded mask has some key differences from the original. Fire Cloak and healing abilities now feature Firestorm to better distribute any immediate threats. The rare Dragon Priest summoning effect has been replaced by the devastating Meteor Storm summoning. Since Storm Call only works outdoors, the chance of rare effects has been doubled to compensate for this. On top of that, the mask now also has a passive enchantment effect. The lower your health drops, the more damage your weapon does. You gain 10% additional damage for every 10% of health you lose, and 50% additional damage when you drop below half health.

need

Just Skyrim. I was very particular about not including any DLC assets so that anyone who owns the game can use this mod.

bed bugs

The only thing I've noticed in a few test runs so far is that the mission may not continue when you remove the new version of the mask from Konahrik's corpse. It's only happened to me once, but if it happens again, just reload an earlier save before defeating him.

(Not so) FAQ

Is the task fully expressed?

Yes, except me. Fortunately, there is only one NPC you can talk to.

What if I want the original version of the mask?

Once you've completed the mission, you can switch back and forth between the old and new Konahrik masks on the tanning rack. Note that this will reset any forging bonus you gave it, but the option is still there if you wish.

If you're not sure about the mask's version, look at its value; newer values are higher.

Did you take away the priestly calling? How could you! ? You monster!

Once you complete the quest, you'll be rewarded with a Spell Dome, which will allow you to summon the Dragon Priest at will, just like any other summoning spell.

Is this compatible with remodeling and reshaping?

Fully compatible with reshaping textures and 95% chance of being compatible with mask reshaping as well. Any other mods not related to masks should be fully compatible.

As for Konahrik's gear and Konahrik's perks, this mod is fully compatible with them, but they will only affect the original version of the mask, not the new one (hence why I added the ability to swap between the original mask and the new tanning rack).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
