Kaidan Follower Mod has been completely rebuilt from the ground up with tons of new features to explore. He is written to be your Dragon's immersive companion or lover, responsive to quests and choices. Growing your relationship with him does not depend on any pursuit, instead you are encouraged to interact with him and develop your own bond over time.

Known Mod Incompatibilities:

Mod that adds horses to followers (may interfere with Kiai - avoid buying her if you wish to continue using the mod)

Blackthorn Manor in Riften (uses the same space as Priestess Camp. Select "Large Wedding" if you want to keep the house)

Follower Tweaking Mod (Kaidan uses his own follower framework, commands using mods like AFT may break him)

Skyrim Water Cooler (known as CTD on the outskirts of Ivarstead near Fall Watch)

start:

On startup, you'll receive a quest that prompts you to find Kaidan in an abandoned prison, and once you free him, he can become your follower. (There is a vanilla bug in the Abandoned Prison that can cause followers to move away or lose trackers when they are across the river. This bug should be fixed with an unofficial Skyrim patch, otherwise travel fast or wait a moment on the road to fix this issue)

Kaidan's equipment can be found in the "Prisoner's Property" box inside the abandoned prison and can be upgraded.

Kaidan also has its own AI system that does not increase your follower count, but this may cause conflicts with follower mods. It is highly recommended that you create a save game before trying to use features like Amazing Follower Adjustments, just in case you damage his brain.

Tracking him is now easier than ever. A dialogue prompt will allow you to track him around the map, and you'll gain the ability to summon him to you in a relatively friendly summons early on.

romantic:

Keeping a relationship moving forward no longer depends on triggering conversations in different places, but rather, over time, more conversations and more of Kaidan's stories will be released.

To spark a romantic conversation with Kaidan, wear Mara's Amulet and talk to him. Once the initial conversation is complete, you do not need to continue wearing the amulet. The romantic quest line will continue. However, be careful about your choices when interacting with him - it could change the course of your relationship!

If you don't want to trigger the Strange Romance questline, it's as simple as not talking to him while wearing Mara's Amulet. He will be your immersive companion, minus the flirting and marriage proposals.

Appear:

Kaidan has his customary hair, eyebrows, and eyes, although nothing about his body has changed. This is to make him compatible and consistent with the aesthetics of the player's chosen body model, and not add any unintended revelations to the game.
