About this mod Machine translation

Modified the recipe for improved Bonemold armor to make it more accessible, and added recipes for two unused chest armor variants.

question

Improved Bonemold armor, while I find it to be a cool version, is largely redundant. While better (and lighter) than Dwarven, it's also much more cumbersome to make. In addition to having to obtain the recipe first, a full set of recipes is also required, which includes 5 Void Salts and 5 Stalhrim - ingredients that are both rare and expensive.

Considering Modified Bonemold occupies a small awkward spot between Dwarven and Orcish/Steel Plate armor, it's largely a wasted investment, and it's generally better to save the gold and ingredients for later.

my fix

My mod makes the improved Bonemold recipe more accessible to the leveling experience by removing Void Salt from the recipe and replacing Stalhrim with Refined Moonstone, a more level-appropriate forging ingredient.

Additionally, I've added improved crafting recipes for two other armor variants - "jerkin" and "guard" type armor (stats and recipes are the same) for those who prefer alternative aesthetics.

stormcloak version

The Stormcloak version features the same changes as above, but swaps the ingredients for Netch Jelly and Netch Leather with Spriggan Sap and standard Skyrim Leather Strips, since visiting another country and dealing with other people is apparently too much trouble. Next, you need me to make a version where Galmar Stonefist automatically gives you the formula when you join Uprising, so you don't even have to set foot in Solstheim.

About Forging Improved Bonemold

Granted, you did join the Thieves Guild to begin Glover Mallory's "Paid in Full" quest, but you can always learn to forge an improved Bonemold. Looting the Bonemold recipe from Esmond Tyne's possession and reading it will teach your character how to craft the armor. You don't need to complete the quest for Glover Mallory!

This isn't what my mod does; Bethesda introduced this mechanic into the base version of Dragonborn from the beginning, although many people don't realize it.

To quickly learn how to make an improved Bonemold, type "player.additem xx02AD3C 1" into the console (xx is your Dragonborn Load order number) and read the formula. AM! You own the know-how.

My mod also changed the text in this formula to reflect the new recipe - because of my great attention to detail (you can show your appreciation by clicking the "Approval" button).

Install/Uninstall

Simply drag and drop the esp file of your choice into the Skyrim\Data directory. Only use one of them!

To uninstall, just delete the esp again.

Not compatible

Modify any mod that improves the Bonemold recipe

NOTE: You can install mods that modify properties on Modified Bonemold armor without conflicts. But the improved Bonemold Jerkin/Guard Armor variants were added by my mod so will remain the same.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
