About this mod Machine translation

A complete overhaul of our existing mods. This adds the traditional Scottish broadsword to Skyrim with a 2K HD texture (see pictures!). The sword is handmade, charming and tempered. They have also been fully populated into the level lists of encounters, merchants and chests, including all vanilla magic variants (fire, shock, etc.) 14 metals available

The second version of the world famous Scottish basket fencing broadsword! Now available in almost every metal in the game. All swords are made with 2K textures for great depth. See for yourself in the pictures. The ones with a gray background are from 3DS Max where they were created. Game footage has a lower screen resolution.

As with previous versions, the blade design is inspired by the Cold Steel Scots broadsword:

So, what's the story of these swords and their history in Tamriel, you ask?

In Tamriel, the Basket Hilt broadsword originated in the Colovian highlands. The Nordsmith craftsmen there used their incredible skills to combine metals and techniques from other cultures with traditional Nord craftsmanship to create a sword nearly equal to the Akawari Katanas.

Nords generally favor heavy two-handed weapons, and the steep, rocky terrain of the Kollov Plateau creates a need for quality one-handed weapons. This allows the user to better maintain their footing without having to overcommit themselves during the swing. Basket fencing broadswords were lighter and stronger than traditional swords of the same material, and were so well balanced that foot infantry were also faster and lighter.

As word spread of the Talmore Rebellion against the Empire and the Empire of Tam, Nordsmith craftsmen began to create and sell more swords to their brethren in Skyrim. Sometimes they are even smuggled in Khajitt caravans. Rumor has it that they even went so far as to create some of the smithing skills in Skyrim.

I tried to add some knowledge to the finished blade, let's take a look at it in detail. First, the mod was rebuilt from the ground up. Swords include the following metals; Rusted Iron, Iron, Steel, Silver, Orc, Dwarf, Norse, Skyforged Steel, Glass, Stalhrim, Ebony, Daedric, and Dragonbone.

The Skyforge steel sword in particular is a masterpiece. It has the appearance of Damascus steel, which looks like dark steel at first glance, but at certain angles you get a dark purple reflection. The entire sword changes slightly in appearance from different colors to patterns at different angles. The scabbard is also dragon scale.

All swords are completely handcrafted, temperable and magical. They also created all the vanilla magic variants for them (even the Silent Moon option for the Steel variant) and added to the level lists for merchants, townsfolk, encounters, and treasures. Anywhere there is a chance for a vanilla sword, these swords have a chance. However, they appear a little less frequently than vanilla swords, as they should be a little rarer in terms of rarity.

Statistically speaking, swords are generally one point lighter than rapiers and deal one point less damage than regular swords. They also have a speed rating of 1.15, making them dead in the middle of swords and daggers. Finally, their critical hit chance is also 5% higher than normal. The goal is to add weapons to the game that are of exceptional quality but still remain relatively balanced.

The cost is about 30% higher (give or take) compared to a regular sword. Unlike ordinary weapons, I have also adjusted the prices of ordinary weapons a bit. If it's enchanted, does it have to be worth more?

Finally, as an added bonus for creating Silver variants, the vanilla Silver Sword can now be crafted and tempered. They will be located under the Other categories of the Crucible. I'm also trying to get them to appear occasionally in vendor and loot lists. They only appear in the hands of werewolf hunters, which always bothered me.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
