About this mod Machine translation

Featuring a three-part questline and multiple dungeons and locations waiting to be explored, this mod tells the story of Hel, the forgotten goddess of death.

She is also a potential follower with a unique visual appearance and personality, and her voice was created by editing and merging two common voice types.

It's all so simple: find some bandits, clean out their hideout, collect a bounty... it's a normal day in the life of a Dragonborn.

But then you stumble upon ancient ruins buried deep in the mountains. There, followers of an ancient Norse people once worshiped a long-forgotten goddess and guarded the secrets of eternal life.

What reward is higher than living forever? Of course, the undead lurking in the ruins won't stop you, nor will deadly traps and tricky puzzles. But beware, there are certain dangers that sword or spell cannot face, one mistake is enough and death will steal your soul forever...

Hel Rising is a quest mod spanning multiple dungeons and locations. Additionally, there's Hel as a potential follower at the end of the quest line, which has a custom voice created by editing a vanilla voice file and some other cool features. She's based on the Norse goddess of the underworld and added my own story to it, and has a very unique visual look and personality.

How to start a mission:

Go to the Windpeak Inn in the Dawnstar and ask the innkeeper if there is any interesting news recently. He will give you a bounty letter, which will start the quest line.

If the Innkeeper and their replacements have died during your playthrough, you must retrieve the Bounty Letter from the current Jarl.

What awaits you is:

A main mission with three main parts, divided into three parts. There are a few other mini-quests, some old-school RPG style puzzles, and plenty of secret/hidden areas you can find. Dungeons are designed to be less linear than vanilla dungeons, giving you room to explore and discover interesting things and stories.

After completing the quest line, one of the locations can be used as a player base, and of course Hel will be an interesting and fairly unique follower.

Require:

Latest version of skyrim

Dawnguard DLC

Optional: XP32 Max Skeleton or XP32 Max Skeleton Extension. The installer includes clothing options that do not require the xp32 framework.

Install:

Use your favorite Mod Manager that handles the FOMOD installer, it's that simple.

uninstall:

It's never a good idea to uninstall a modded game, but if you have no other choice, here's what you do:

Go to a location that is definitely not part of this mod (e.g. Riverwood)

Open the console and type: setstage N78TrueHelDLG 1000 (this operation cannot be reverted)

Save the game and uninstall the mod using the Mod Manager

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
