Mod description
This mod allows you to build up to three additional rooms in a new basement beneath any Hearthfire home. All rooms are replicas of the original Hearthfire wings.
construction
You will find a new book on the workbench outside any Hearthfire dwelling. This guide will tell you the materials and gold required to build each room.
To start building additional rooms, you must first complete your tiny house/entry.
Activate your exterior workbench and you will find "Basement Corridor" under misc. Along with the garden, animal pens, etc. you will find the trapdoor leading to the new hallway in the northeast corner of your house/entrance.
Once you enter the hallway, you'll find three workbenches. Each workbench allows you to build a room on the east, west, or south side of the hall.
Once you've finished building the room, you can remove the workbench using a drafting table outside your home.
The construction of the basement corridor is completely optional. If you don't want any extra room in either of your homes, you can ignore this option when using an exterior workbench.
You can't build individual components in each room. Once you create a room, every piece of furniture will be provided automatically.
feature
There are some subtle differences between underground chambers and standard Hearthfire wings...
A butter churn in the kitchen can be used to turn milk into butter, not just distribute it.
The library can hold 418 books (the original library could only hold 308 books). That's enough space for every book in the vanilla game and every DLC.
Ladders in the "tower" rooms that normally lead outside are now used to move between the two floors.
Install
NMM - Click the Download Manager button

Known issues
There are some issues you should be aware of before using this mod.
Your spouse and children will not be able to enter the basement or use any rooms. I hope to find a solution to implement in a future update.
After creating a trophy in the trophy room, the menu option may reappear. If this happens, go back to the menu. This seems to be a minor issue in the vanilla game.
Don't take books directly from the bookshelf. Doing so may increase shelf capacity. Always make sure you click on the actual shelf and remove your book from the "container". This also seems to be a vanilla glitch.
Note that you can only build one of each type of room. Once a room is created in a workbench, this option will be removed from the other two workbench. I've tested every build option, but if you do see a room available twice, ignore that option. If you create it again, you will end up creating another door to the same room.
I've done a lot of testing with this mod, and while I've tried my best to make sure it works, some issues may arise. If you happen to spot any issues, please bring them to my attention in the discussion tag or PM.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
