About this mod Machine translation

Added harvestable tomato plants to several farms in southern Skyrim. You can also grow tomatoes in the Fire House.

Tomatoes - a mystery.

There are a lot of tomatoes to be found in Skyrim, but they all have to be imported from far away because no one is growing them.

This mod changes that. It introduces tomato plants to several fields in southern Skyrim (tomatoes are finicky plants, they need warmth and care and won't grow near Windham or Dawnstar) - some tomatoes replace potatoes, others are planted in free space.

You can also plant them in the "active soil" of Hearthfires homes and gardens.

That's basically it. Bon voyage and enjoy.

Technical information

I created the mesh by modifying the potato plant mesh using nifscope and Caliente's Outfit Studio (yeah, that's right). Texture is vanilla "potato02" texture, renamed to "tomato02". I used Skyrim Flora Overhaul, a tool that changes the appearance of the potato plant - as you can see in the screenshot, it's easy to tell the two apart. If you don't use any texture improvement mods, your tomatoes will be almost indistinguishable from potatoes (except for the large red fruits).

conflict

This mod will conflict with any mod that adds more plants to the Hearthfire planting system. Place the "Growing Tomatoes" esp above this mod in the load order and you will still be able to grow tomatoes on other people's farms, but you won't be able to grow them yourself. Placing the esp below another mod will allow you to grow tomatoes, but you will lose the ability to grow tomatoes added by the other mod.

Available files

'Basic Growing Tomatoes' enables you to grow tomatoes - no one else in Skyrim will grow them.

"Growing Tomatoes All' allows you to grow tomatoes and add tomato plants to multiple warmer locations. The further north you go, the smaller the plants will be. I think Lereius's farm is the coldest place to have them. Rorikstead has the best crops because they really are.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
