About this mod Machine translation

Replaced the Solitude main door and smaller doors in the temple area with new meshes and high-quality details.

Six weeks ago I finally set a goal for myself to start learning how to modify and create models from scratch, texture them and bring them into Skyrim.

It was such an amazing, frustrating, joyful and daunting challenge that I can only recommend it to everyone.

I have never learned much in my life in such a short period of time.

Six weeks ago I couldn't even move the mouse in Blender and had never heard of vertices, edges and faces before.

I started with a headscarf and a female dress, but failed to bring them into Skyrim.

Then I kept going and almost failed, but now I finally did it, so I'm really happy :-)

Thanks to everyone in the Blender and Niftools Discord channels for solving a lot of stupid problems for me.

Special thanks to Vextin and FrankFamily, and to all the helpers.

Glorious Gate of Solitude

Mod replaces the Gate of Solitude and the smaller gates in the Temple area.

You can choose between 4k or 2k textures.

There is a small Solitude wolf on the door with a knocking ring.

For Open City users, I also made a specific version to replace the double-sided Open City Door.

Another nice thing about this version is that you can actually look straight into the city through the hole in the door.

I know the normal version doesn't quite make sense since it's the same door on the inside, but in the vanilla game it does.

Install

Nothing fancy, just drop the files into the data folder.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
