About this mod Machine translation

This mod adds over a dozen wildfire beacons to the Rift/Eastmarch mountains.

Presumably in days gone by, they were connected by sight, but the ravages of time have dislocated some of them.

Be gritty and you'll find yourself without any of the modern conveniences:

  • Skyrim borders disabled
  • Foreground color/zoom modules such as "Closer View"

*Horse Riding, Flying Dragon, Surf Eagle (no, that's not a human link)

*

Clearing the sky shouts/spells though I can imagine players might find some of the features above really useful.

The ghostly giant found at the end of the trail will send you on a quest to reach the range (but it shouldn't be that difficult after the trail...especially since the places you visit during the main quest are the same). As a bonus, you'll be able to jump to Skuldafn/Sovngarde with them as an alternative to the Fallen Ones main quest. Reward or punishment... because this may be a last resort if you kill or offend too many important NPCs via the Main Quest Dialogue Overhaul mod.

Streamlined functionality (applicable to version 1.0)

  • Beacon fires run uninterrupted day and night; nothing to gain, just the simplistic blandness of the open world trail design: can you spot the next one? Painted boulders sometimes mark sightseeing spots.

-You don't need any special actions to talk to the ghost giant

-You don't need to complete the Ghost Giants' recruitment to recruit some of them as Civil War allies. This is done via CWAllies missions, so they should support you in the main siege battle external environment, similar to Hadvar or Ralof. Recruited two ghost giants.

-Even if you learned something from Arngeir or someone else who found Alduin elsewhere, you will be asked to go to the other end of the path to talk to the non-haunted giant. Notice:

-The book that needs to be read (in order to obtain a variant of the slow-time shout necessary to talk to the giant) is placed next to the giant that is being talked to. Regular camp giants also require no additional dialogue. (For non-Dragonborn games you have to unencrypt the global value Whatsits name VxSlowTimeIsOn iirc)

  • A giant will be able to throw you into the mountains of Skuldafn, with a chance of falling into a pool of water and surviving. This is an alternative to the alternative added by this mod. (Note: Need to increase the chance of doing this, iirc is set to minimal by default).
  • Regardless of your main quest progress, there will be no Odahviing boss fight in the Temple of Skudafen; you can still make a beeline for the exit if you know what you are doing

-The giant that attacks Skuldafn will drop two Big Toes, so if you're optimizing your playthrough for the number of Big Toes you can profit from your "investment", note that anything over 15 to 20 ((for the Count's Big Toes that Skuldafn attacks) will work more or less the same

-Some new lines may be missing voice files, please use Fuz Ro Doh

additional! additional!

The book "The Truth About Mammoths" can be found in the Troll's Lair next to the Bloody Chest, slightly elevated but near one of the lit beacons on the trail.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
