About this mod Machine translation

This mod improves your experience with the Favorites shortcut menu. Faster scrolling, more entries, longer entry text, etc.

The first beta version of this mod was made a few months ago as part of my "Dear Diary" paper interface replacement, proposed by DarkMaster06. That's when I decided to create my own favorite menu replacements from scratch.

This is a modified and improved version included in Dear Diary, with some new options.

What is this and why might someone need it?

The Favorites menu (or "Quick Menu") is a very powerful tool that can make gaming more convenient and satisfying. The favorites menu included in the SkyUI mod is very good, much better than the vanilla menu, and to be honest, I had completely forgotten what the vanilla menu looked like.

With the introduction of the great iEquip mod the need to constantly look at the favorites menu to switch primary weapons/spells/shouts has gone. However, it is still reasonable to use this menu to select some less commonly used skills, tools, and equipment. Here's a computer analogy: iEquip queue = your cache, favorites menu = your RAM, inventory menu = your hard drive.

If you (like me) regularly overload your favorites list with all your secondary spells, armor sets, utility abilities, etc. - than you might like this mod.

How to choose?

I suggest you look at the screenshots to make your decision.

No ESP, no scripts etc, so installing/uninstalling/updating mid-playthrough is completely safe. You can try all the variants yourself without any problems.

I personally use the "Advanced" version now and I have "Extended" set as the main/default swirl file, so if you want to choose other options go to the "File" section.

Feature list for each major option:

Improved Vanilla Favorites ("Newbies")

  • Appearance,

Extended Favorites ("Adept")

  • Full height menu
  • x2 faster scrolling speed
  • 31 elements in the list at the same time
  • Entries up to 40 symbols will not be shortened
  • 60 FPS Advanced Favorites ("Expert") - Complete - Height menu with group buttons moved to another location** - x2 faster scroll speed - 42 elements in the list at the same time - Entries with a maximum of 40 symbols will not be shortened - 60 FPS ---* You will not see something like "The mighty epic greatsword..." instead of: "The mighty epic greatsword of the Dragonborn".

**In case of Favorites menu, the primary resource is the screen height. So I thought it would make sense to vertically align the group buttons and move them to an empty menu location.

---

Additionally, I have provided two options (main variants) for Customizeble UI Replacer users - see screenshots. They are not retextured, just adjusted to match other UI elements (above and below the menu). The first option - 17 entries, the second - 23 entries. Both come with all other general features - x2 scrolling, 60 FPS, up to 40 sybmols per entry.

Finally there is the optional version which is equal to the main file but with a menu on the right. I thought someone would find it useful.

Compatibility Notes

Fully compatible with all contents of the configmenu.swf file without changing it.

Compatible with any language.

If for some reason you are using loose file form of SkyUI (unpacked BSA), just load my mod post modi in the mod manager.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
