About this mod Machine translation
This mod adds a small cave on the outskirts of Riverwood. It can be used as a base/beginner, temporary or permanent players home.
Overview:
Crystalspring Hollow is a small cave found under a hollow tree near Riverwood. The entrance to the cave is a trap door hidden in a hollow tree trunk and surrounded by shrubbery. It is located a little west of Riverwood and across the river. (If you reach Anise's Cabin, you've gone too far west.) It's easy to get to, and includes a map marker that makes it easy to find it and return via fast travel. Inside the cave are a sheet, an alchemy bench, an alchemist's pouch, a cooking pot, and a backpack. The backpack has some locks, and the alchemist's bag contains a small number of beginner alchemy items. Also scattered around the cave are a few gold coins, a bottle of beer and mushrooms, and a lore-friendly journal, tying this location to the game world. This is in no way intended to be a cheater or an overwhelming mod. It is only used as a temporary home to store your belongings (and relax) until you can afford one in the city. It's also suitable for any role player wishing to become a Dovahkiin cave abode. Check the banner image to see the cave's location relative to Riverwood on the map.
detail:
The backpack and alchemist's pouch are set to non-respawn, so any items you store in them should remain safe indefinitely (I've never had a problem with that.) Various flavor items (gold nuggets, beer, logs, etc.) are set to non-respawn. Mushrooms, workbenches, and static decoration items are set to respawn (as most static decorations seem to have that flag for some reason.) I haven't tested dropping loose items or equipment into the cave, so I'm not sure if manually placing decoration items will remain safe. The cave settings have keywords for player homes, so I might assume they would, but I'm not sure. If you decide to give it a try, please leave a comment and let me know how it works for you. However, it's better to stay safe and only store important items in your backpack or alchemist's pouch. Also, please note that the cave is only accessible to one Dovahkiin. Advocate Dovahkiins or people with children will have to invest in a house more suitable for family life. However, the cave has been skimmed so a follower can accompany you inside.
Install:
Place CrystalspringHollow.esp into the ...\Skyrim\Data folder and activate the .esp in the Skyrim launcher or via the mod manager.
uninstall:
Delete CrystalspringHollow.esp from the ...\Skyrim\Data folder.
*Note: Most people recommend not adding or removing .esp files in the middle of playback, but this mod does not contain scripts, meshes, or texture files. It's just an .esp file using only assets from the base game. It may be safe to add or remove it during playback, but it's best to avoid using it if possible.
conflict:
This mod edits the external Tamriel cell "Wilderness" at coordinates (2, -11); it will conflict with other mods editing the same cell. It also adds a custom internal unit, which should have no conflicts.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
