This mod allows you to bring Meeko to Falkreath's Lod.
This mod was made by request /u/on the skyrimmods Chillocks subreddit (subreddit) here.
It adds a dialogue option for Lod (the Blacksmith in Falkreath) to give Meeko (the dog from Hjaalmarch's hut) to him. As /u/Chillocks points out: "Lod wants a dog and Meeko wants an owner. Seems like a perfect couple."
The dialogue display has some requirements:
Meeko must follow the player and get close to him/her.
The player must at least agree with Lod about capturing the dog outside of Falkreath. (In view of fresh meat)
Known issue: If you give Meeko to a Lod, a message will pop up: "Your pet has come home." As far as I know, this is hardcoded and will also happen when the pet follower is dismissed. This is necessary for Meeko to follow Lod.
Patch: There is a patch in the optional download for another mod of mine called How Hard Is The Persuasion Check. Load the patch after both mods.
troubleshooting
If you have already completed the Clavicus Despicable Deadric quest but still wish to bring Meeko to Lod, you can use the console command: Set PlayerKnowsLodWantsADog 1. Make sure Meeko is near you when talking to Lod. This will ensure that conversation options are available.
If you use any follower pattern, such as AFT, you may need to fire Meeko in order to stay with Lod's after you tell Lod to own him.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
