About this mod Machine translation
Ever wanted to use those gorgeous kendos with weapons other than those two-handed swords? With these edited scripts, you can now!
illustrate:
Ever wanted to use those flashy sword slashes with something other than a two-handed sword?
Thanks to elysees for allowing me to redo some of their scripts, both FreeStyle (included in elysees LE) and BerserkStyle now work:
one handed sword
one handed dagger
One-handed ax/hammer
two handed sword
Two handed ax/hammer
Any combination of dual-wielding one-handed weapons (both create slashes on power attacks)
Cannot be used on unarmed people (as a punch should not cause the enemy to be whipped).
Also added a lot of slashes to the dash power attack (similar to the "Rapid Slash" mod) and added a small amount of screen shake for a more impactful feel.
A slightly technical note:
The way these mods are designed doesn't actually prevent them from using all types of weapons. It seems that for some reason Skyrim's engine/behavior graph sends AnimationEvents to Event Attack, a script that only listens when a two-handed sword is equipped. By registering different events I also need to store some animation variables, but I personally don't notice any performance loss compared to the original version.
How to install?
It's obvious that the actual mod is already installed (it's just a SCRIPT replacer!)
Overwrite BerserkStyle 's BskAbilityBerserkStylishScript.pex or FreeStyle 's FreeStyleQuestScript.pex (located in the "Scripts" subfolder of the corresponding mod) with the files from this mod. If physically replaced or just backup the original file using MO
cut off
Keep in mind that the visuals for these mods were created for a very specific set of power attack animations, and when using any other animations they will appear misaligned with the trajectory of the actual blade. FreeStyle's animations are included in the optional files of the Smokin' Sick Style mod, but they used different animations when creating the BerserkStyle Elysee.
Also note that Freestyle is designed for use with Weapon Speed 1.4
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
