About this mod Machine translation
Extending Bandolier's functionality to include the drawbacks of larger bag sizes, as well as other slight effects for different types of gear, is intended to create interesting choices and trade-offs.
First, I made a series of small adjustments to my game. I use Requiem and a lot of survival modes, so I wanted a way to balance the limited carry weight with having to carry extra gear from Frostfall/RND/etc. I ended up adding some slight effects to other types of gear that didn't do anything in the base mod (i.e. books) to create interesting options. I think it's worth sharing.
Balance notes:
This mod is for players using the Limited/Realistic Carry Weight Mod. As mentioned, I only played Skyrim with Requiem, which seriously affects how much weight you can carry. If you don't play this way, you might not find a mod you like. Be warned!
Require
Bandolier (of course)
Bandolier - Dawnguard (see below)
Bandolier - reduced weight and price (probably not explicitly requested, but I made mymod from here using an edited esp, so I can't guarantee it will work without it)
illustrate
Overall, this is a very simple mod. I'll just list some key points:
Forces you to choose between "smaller" and "larger" variants of bags and sponge cake makers in each slot. Larger variants offer more weight, but at the cost of slightly slower movement, which can hamper your ability to fight and travel if taken to an extreme. Make wise choices.
Add some "small" pockets (i.e. "left" and "right") for some slots where only the "big" variant fills the gap. The new small bags use the same model as the large bags, but have the same effects as other small bags.
Satchels take up two slots at the hip, so they have some better weight-carrying effect (same as small rubber bands), although the method of making them is a bit complicated for characters early in the game.
Books are beautiful decorations, but without any bonuses, it's a hard choice. I've added some small enchantments that reduce spellcasting costs by 3% at the magic school of your choice. A variety of books can be produced for any magic school. However, the notebook in the Dawnguard mod (below) is slightly different. Laptops (which occupy the front hip slot instead of the back) do not affect specific schools of magic, but instead reduce the cost of all spells by 1%.
The Vial Holder and Vial Carousel contain a variety of salves and ointments to help you recover from wounds (10-25% increased healing rate, balanced near Requiem).
I've integrated Bandolier-Dawnguard's extra plugin into this mod. Notebook as above. I didn't change Flask's stamina regeneration effect, but I confirmed it's a unique effect that doesn't affect Requiem's stamina drain - you'll still need to utilize enchantments or potions to avoid exhaustion (a feature of Requiem 2.0, or adjust it yourself). I also edited the crafting recipe so that the "Dark Leather" gear all uses the same dyed leather, and disabled the "Dark Leather" recipe in the Dawnguard mod.
Dark leather is now dyed with inkwells instead of spider venom.
"Assorted Buckles" use iron instead of steel, and now the first blacksmith shop needs to be created. Added buckles to the level list, which should be accessible to most blacksmiths.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
