Automaton Modpack Framework
Using mods alone is dangerous.
Well, while you most likely won't harm your own model, mistakes are many, time is short, and patience takes a toll on faster than most people admit. Automaton is an open source modpacking utility for automating the creation and installation of modpacks. It does not bundle any assets or redistribute any mods, and respects all modder permissions 100%. Modpack authors can share their exact installations for free, and users can easily install and play their favorite modpacks.
I started out much like many of you - stuck, angry, exhausted clicking through hundreds of FOMOD dialog boxes, downloading every module and triple checking each one to no avail. If you are human, mistakes are common, especially when we are involved in repetitive and tricky tasks.
There is a way to avoid this process. Take out the humans. Not only automate the installation process of modpacks, but do so in a respectful manner - the kind of respect that every author in this amazing community deserves, considering. This means no third party mod assets are bundled. Automaton provides a link for every download and provides automatic download functionality for Premium users. (Automatic downloading is a feature, officially supported via the API.) The following automatic installation is not only simple, but also efficient - installs Mod Organizer 2 and organizes your modlist without any necessary user intervention.

Notification about errors. This is a beta version still undergoing final testing before official release. If you find any features that don't work, please post them in the Automaton Discord and Subreddit for bug report submission rules.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
