About this mod Machine translation

A collection of various fixes for vanilla male armor mesh.

What exactly is this mod?

This is a collection of some minor (but noticeable) fixes I made to the mesh on some of the male armor sets (just the ones that really stick out, I haven't examined the other armor in detail). These fixes were built using the USLEEP grid as a base, none of which are actually included in USLEEP.

braid

Armor: Armor Set - Completely reshapes the armor, boots and gloves into something that fits the shape of the vanilla male body. You may have noticed that your character appears thinner when wearing this armor, this is because the whole armor has a very strange shape (perhaps it was designed for an earlier version of the male body and they forgot to update it?). Includes sleeveless styles.

  • Remove the scarf from the USLEEP mesh but keep the waistband consistent with the women's version.
  • Improved arm and leg weights (and USLEEP belt).

Dragon Bone Armor Set

-Fixed the clipping on the entire armor, mainly the boots, gloves and rings on the arms and improved the situation that I couldn't quite fix.

  • Fixed some bad weight on the neck.
  • Fixed messy normals on the helmet on the USLEEP mesh (it had seams on it), also improved its shape so there are no more haircuts.

Dragon Scale Armor Set

  • This whole thing has bad weight, causing clipping and weird deformation. This has all been fixed (check out the screenshots to see the affected areas).
  • Fixed some visible holes in the mesh (the ones you can see in normal gameplay and normal camera angles).
  • Added missing partitions to fix trimming of boots and gloves (gloves had to be reshaped too).

Ancient Nord/Draugr Armor Set

  • Fixed visible hole between body and neck.
  • The body itself seems to have wrong weighting, without any specular reflections (on vanilla and USLEEP meshes). I removed it completely and replaced it with an edited version of the vanilla body mesh.
  • Fixed some clipping of legs and skirt when crouching. Unfortunately, the cut on this armor is really bad in the leg area, so you'll still see it when walking.
  • Removed the thigh weight from the boot, which resulted in very bad deformation.

Dawnguard Armor Set

  • Fixed clipping of boots and gloves (see screenshot).

Iron Armor Set

  • A very noticeable mesh fixed to the hair on the back, appearing at any weight other than 100. This means I have to redo the weight slider, but at least the shape is more consistent between weight 0 and weight 100.
  • Fixed waistband cut with fur on the back.
  • Fixed the fixed position of the cauldron straps in the strap variant (the connection to the back of the armor is floating instead of...well, connected).

Install

Very easy, just use the mod manager of your choice to install the 7z files (I recommend using Mod Organizer 2 as it doesn't install things into the data folder). This mod only contains mesh files, but make sure no other mod's meshes cover them.

compatibility

Should be compatible with most retextures as most of them do not edit meshes. FrankFamily's reconstruction is compatible, I didn't edit any of the meshes he made.

Q/A Part

What about female armor?

I haven't done any work on the vanilla web, but I did do a similar fix for the CBBE body in my other mod: Vanilla Outfits BodySlided

SSE version?

Maybe I'll eventually make a page for it. At the same time, SSE Nif Optimizer

Mesh armor model fixed?

I did fix the popular Dragonbone Ebonsteel Armor set (basically the same fix as the vanilla Dragonbone and Dragonscale armor, plus texture fixes on the chest armor) and the improved Closefaced Helmets (improved the shape of some male helmets to avoid clipping armor/necks etc). Unfortunately, both modules require the author's permission to modify/improve their assets, so I can't ATM them.

Update: Dreogan gave him permission, so I uploaded the Dragonbone Ebonsteel fix.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
