Arcanum - A new era of magic

Years in development, Arcanum is a massive spell mod designed to combine unique gameplay with visuals to a quality Skyrim has never attempted before. With plans for 100 spells and over 300 spells inspired by everything from Dragon's Dogma to Planescape, Arcanum may be the most ambitious magic mod ever.

Have you ever downloaded an exciting spells mod full of creative and interesting spells, only to find yourself scattering fireballs over and over again? Or wish all the amazing visuals in a mod like Chromatic Magic were actually rolled into something lore-friendly and balanced?

In Skyrim, magic often becomes a chore. Fingertip exercises using the same spells over and over again leave no room for creative combos or adaptations. Arcanum seeks to change this situation. Arcanum is more than just a collection of powerful thunderbolts designed as a journey of magical experimentation. Different schools of magic, and the different styles within those schools, are given unique identities and gameplay mechanics, providing avenues for creative combinations and synergies. As a mage player myself, this mod was made with other popular magic mods in mind, and is intended to be the linchpin that can breathe new life into old mods.

And, the result of years of experimentation, practice, and talking with some of the most talented artists and NIF wizards out there, Arcanum features the most unique, state-of-the-art visuals of any Skyrim mod. Dynamic spinning tornadoes, giant crashing meteors and the ability to summon stars at will are just a few of the powers at your disposal. Of course, powerful magic is no easy feat - many of these spells require arcane or other settings to be used effectively. It's up to you to decide how to get the most out of these spells.

When designing the Destruction Spell, I divided the schools into three different styles along the elements. Each has a different play style, strengths, weaknesses, and players can choose to focus and concentrate on one element, or use other elements to mitigate the weaknesses of their element. All play styles will receive unique combos and rewards.
