About this mod Machine translation
Perfect for ethical assassins, this mod changes database-wise contract targets to those you can feel guilty about killing! Also, coincidentally, for some people who might actually be too lazy to pay to be murdered.
tw: The mod description refers to murder, child abuse, sexual harassment, misogyny, disability, animal abuse/death.
There are two main issues for developers choosing Brotherhood Contract targets:
- Many of them are innocent people and I can't kill myself.
- There is no in-game reason why anyone will pay for assassinating them.
Now, you might think that number 1 is ridiculous, because, if I don't feel good about killing video game characters, why would I want to play an assassin? To which I say: hrrrrm shut up and have fun sneaking around.
The second reason is that I see something people complain about and hey guess what! I fixed it for you! I try to keep the goals similar, like, difficulty level or theme or whatever you want, but some of them might be a little easier, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Your new target has ridiculous borderline pre-murder dialogue just like the original target had ridiculous borderline pre-murder dialogue. They are not silent, they make a sound! It’s still incredible how purposeful your conversation choices are. Nazir had new dialogue, but he said the old dialogue was because I couldn't piece together the new lines in a way that met my standards. So make sure you read his subtitles.
Please note: In my testing, the "Kill Kjeld" contract did not appear in the journal, but still worked exactly as expected. You can still ask Nazir for Kjeld and claim your reward after he's finished processing it. I don't know why this is happening, but if you find out please let me know.
Compatibility/Load Order/Requirements: Set this below anything in the load order that modifies the bold quests and NPCs below, or modifies the "DarkBrotherhood" or "DarkSideContractDialogue" quests, including USLEEP. USLEEP is required. If you want some changes for other mods, please make a patch in TES5Edit.
Anyway, let's
Take a look back at the changes: Kill Narfi: Ridiculous goal. Who is signing this contract. When he was a soldier, he harassed the Dunmer and killed them. I went with 'a Dunmer who wants justice/vengeance' as a motivation because I used the CW revenge related to Bolund.
Kill Beitild: Like there was a motive (her husband was a sh*t), but "woman murdered by her husband" isn't cool or interesting, so now you get Kjeld, who is a horrible person.
Killing Ennodius Papius: What did this guy do? Developers no longer tell us about murdering psychopaths ffs. Now you go find Bolund, whose brother Solaf is a Stormcloak and has probably killed at least one man with a brother. That brother wanted Solaf to feel their pain, so they killed his brother for that reason.
Kill Hern: No changes, he has corpses in his body so he's bad and someone might know.
Kill Lurbuk: Why everyone hates him so much, it's stupid. Anyway, now you're going to kill Mikael for being a sexual harasser and a general misogynist.
Killing Deekus: What's the motive? nowhere. So now you're catching up with Hilde, who is once again a bigot, and one of the people she's stubbornly against hired DB OR Sven, I guess? I don’t remember why I chose her!
Kill Ma'randru-jo: In this house we support the cats. Now you have to kill Molgrom Twice-Killed bc misogynist, either that or burglary murder is the reason he is being targeted now.
Killing Anoriath: Why. Nagrub Because I don’t remember. Let's say it's Orsimer Politics.
Killing Agnis: Literally ridiculous. If one of the bandits she lived with wanted her dead, they would. Take yourself seriously. Sneaking into the fort isn't difficult. Now you have to kill Lemkil who abused his children. There was one person among the many who, normally realizing this, wanted him to stop and decided that assassination was the way to do it.
Killing Maluril: No changes, there's a motive, he's a bad guy.
Kill Helvard: No, let's look at Harra …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
