About this mod Machine translation
This mod adds a series of alchemy books that teach the role of each ingredient within them, placed in lore locations near Skyrim, and has built-in support for several popular mods that add CACO, Beasts of Tamriel, Immersive Creatures, Skybirds, and Heartbreakers.
Available for SSE
Books now teach ingredient effects! No more searching for what each ingredient does, just read it once and the effects will show up next time you enter the alchemy menu.
Some years ago, when Vanus Galerian was still a student on the island of Arteum, he discovered Asliel Direnni's musical notes, which have been passed down through generations. After leaving and founding the Mages' Guild, he completed and published these notes with two alchemists. This set contains 9 books (organized by ingredient type) and a reference book on the most effective ingredients for each effect. One of the alchemists, Gildor Inglorian, hated Galilean's refusal to include human, fish, and orc ingredients, so he created his own book containing these ingredients. These books are rare (magicians are not cautious about their research material), but at least one copy of each can be found in Skyrim, while more common books can be found in several places, sometimes in alchemy shops. .
detail
This mod adds a collection of 11 books to the game, teaching the effects of different ingredients with options from vanilla Skyrim and CACO. In addition to the reference books containing lists of the most effective ingredients for each potion's effects, each book looks at ingredients from different types of sources (plants, animals, etc.). The books will also teach the effects of components from a number of other mods - Bots, Immersive Creatures, SkyBirds, Hunterborn and Broken Hearts as long as they are active in the load order. There are no hard dependencies, it just requires that my mod can detect the .esp. Both the CACO version and the vanilla version have this feature. I recommend CACO because it's a great mod that greatly improves alchemy, and because this mod was originally designed with CACO in mind. In the vanilla version, there are very few ingredients per book, simply because CACO adds so much. These books are:
Dirt (Bedbugs)
Flora I - Flowers, Fruits and Nuts
Flora II - Leaves, Roots and Mushrooms
waters
sky
beast war
Auri-El and Y'ffre's children (giants, twigs, etc.)
unnatural and otherworldly
Minerals and gemstones (pearls, salts, oils)
Reference: Active ingredients
black alchemy
The first three are regular books - available through the Alchemy Shop and have multiple defined locations. The next three are less common, but are still occasionally found in stores and in a few places. The next four are rare - each of them can only be found in one location, but if you're lucky you might find a copy in Arcaneum. There is only one copy of the last one. Some barbaric alchemists (i.e. not shopkeepers) can provide some clues to help you find rarer books.
Installation
Just install one of the four major versions. Both CACO and vanilla have scripted and non-scripted versions. The scripted version teaches the effects of ingredients, while the unscripted version serves as a reference book only. Both script versions require SKSE. CACO version requirements for - you guessed it - CACO. Other than that, there are no requirements. All versions contain ingredients for all supported mods in the text. The scripted version will teach the effects of ingredients added in supported mods, provided their .esps are active in your load order, but these .esps are not required for the mod.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
