Skul4PlayerCoop (beta)
Online co-op for Skul: The Hero Slayer for up to 4 players over Steam. Based on the MIT-licensed OnlineCoopBeta
(DuelManTeam); see THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md.
Install
- Install Mod Manager (or r2modman) and select Skul: The Hero Slayer.
- Create a profile and install Skul4PlayerCoop from the online list (BepInExPack_Skul 5.4.2100 is installed with
it). Without the online list: install BepInExPack_Skul, then Settings → Import local mod → choose the zip.
- Start the game with Start modded. The co-op status box appears in the top-right corner.
Every player needs the same mod version. Don't install OnlineCoopBeta in the same profile.
Play together
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| F6 | Host (creates a friends-only Steam lobby). While hosting: open the Steam invite dialog. |
| F9 | Leave the session. |
| Interact (F / gamepad Y), hold 1 s | Revive a downed teammate standing at their body. |
| F7, then 1–4 | Unstuck: teleport to that player (same map, 10 s cooldown). |
| Interact at the door left of a shop's entrance | Trading room (see Rules). |
Friends join through the Steam invite (or "Join game" in the Steam friends list). The host controls the map
progression; everyone else follows automatically. Joining in the middle of a run works.
Rules
- Chests, rewards and shops are per player: everyone gets their own reward and their own shop stock.
- Gold: everyone gets the same gold from enemies and rewards, but each player has and spends their own wallet.
- Dark Quartz: only the host earns and spends it. The host's Witch upgrades apply to everyone.
- One world: the host's progress (rescued NPCs, cutscenes seen, Dark Mirror level) decides the maps for everyone,
so players with different saves still get the same rooms.
- Mythology Pack DLC isn't required: owners can find DLC gear in their own chests and shops, and everyone sees
DLC skulls and items on teammates.
- Death: you go down and watch your teammates. A teammate can revive you by sacrificing 50% of their max HP
(they need more than 50%). Downed players also revive when a boss or mini-boss is defeated. If everyone is down, the
run ends. Leaving and rejoining doesn't revive you.
- Enemies have more HP with more players: +25% per extra player (configurable by the host).
- Map events are shared: boss intros, dialogues and trials start for everyone at the same time; when one player
starts a trial or event, it starts for all.
- Cutscene dialogue continues together: every player presses Attack/Jump to continue a line (the banner shows who
is ready).
- Trading (in every shop): the door left of the entrance leads to the trading room; only you move. Every player
has a skull pedestal and an item pedestal. Put your current skull (you need a second one) or an item on your own
pedestal; a teammate takes it only by leaving one of theirs in exchange (skull for skull, item for item). You can
always take back what lies on your own pedestal. Items are picked from a list (Up/Down, Interact/Attack to confirm,
Jump/Cancel to go back; works with a controller). Anything left on a pedestal comes back to its owner when you
leave the shop.
- The next map waits until every living player has taken their map reward (up to 90 s, configurable).
- Disconnects: your run is saved like in the normal game. Restart, choose Continue and rejoin: you keep your gear
and get the gold the party earned meanwhile.
- If the host leaves or crashes, the next player (lowest number) becomes the host automatically and everyone else
reconnects to them; the run continues. The old host can come back with Continue and "Join game" in the Steam
friends list.
Settings
BepInEx/config/com.skul4playercoop.runtime.cfg (the mod manager's config editor): keys, status box, name tags,
reward wait time, enemy HP per extra player, logging.
Known issues
- Some skull and quintessence effects (e.g. Raven Lord, Harpy, Hunter shots, Gargoyle laser) are not always visible
on the other players' screens
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
