Chatter
Text chat. As simple as it is.
About this mod Author’s original text
What It Does:
Shift At Midnight gives you a voice but nothing to type into. Chatter adds a chat box similar in shape as Big Walk uses: press a key, type, press it again. Your line lands in the dialogue history and hangs over your head for a few seconds, alongside everything the customers said.
Features:
- Goes in the game's own history: lines are added the way a customer's line is added, so the dialogue history reads your conversation back with theirs
- Someone is typing: a pulsing... over anyone with their box open
How to Install:
- Use any compatible mod manager for the easiest installation.
OR
- Make sure you have BepInEx 6 IL2CPP installed.
- Download this mod and put it in your BepInEx plugins folder. (\GAME_LOCATION\Shift At Midnight\BepInEx\plugins)
Everyone needs this mod. Unlike a mod that only changes what you see, this one changes what everyone sees, so anybody without it installed sees nothing at all. Your message is shared through the lobby, and a player without the mod has nothing listening for it.
How to Use:
Press Enter, type, press Enter again to send. Escape cancels.
Everyone in the lobby gets every message. Open the dialogue history to read the conversation back.
Configuration:
The only setting is which key opens the box, and you only need it if Enter is taken on your setup.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
