Map Improvements
A BepInEx (mod loader) plugin for Shadows of Doubt. A map that is easier to read and quicker to open.
If it makes finding your way easier, please leave a like on its page. It keeps me motivated to make more mods. Donations are welcome too:
What it does
- Bigger icons: shops, businesses and buildings, your own marker and the markers for people and objects you track are twice the size, so they are easy to spot at any zoom.
- Persistent map: buildings already drawn on the map stay drawn while it is closed, so reopening the map no longer redraws the whole city after a while. New information, such as a blueprint or a newly explored room, still updates that building.
- Plays nice with other map mods: if another mod already resizes your own marker, that size is kept.
Config
After one launch, edit BepInEx/config/sm3gm.sod.mapimprovements.cfg with the game closed.
| Setting | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Icons / PlaceIconScale | 2.0 | Size of shop, business and building icons (1 = vanilla). |
| Icons / PlayerIconScale | 2.0 | Size of your own marker (1 = vanilla). Left alone when another mod already resizes it. |
| Icons / TrackedIconScale | 2.0 | Size of markers for tracked people and objects (1 = vanilla). |
| Map / KeepDrawnBuildings | true | Keep buildings drawn while the map is closed. |
Install
Use Mod Manager or r2modman and install as normal. BepInEx is installed automatically.
To install by hand:
- Install BepInExPack IL2CPP version 6.0.755.
- Put SoDMapImprovements.dll in BepInEx/plugins/MapImprovements/ inside your existing BepInEx folder.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
