About this mod Author’s original text

Do you like decorating your flat?

Do you miss the cosiness of fairy lights and hanging baskets?

Have you ever spent a week prowling through a 100mb json file just to recolour your kitchen counter, because the default game preset was just in a slightly better position than what you could manually place?

Say no more - Hang That Basket is for you.

Since a recent update, a lot of wall and ceiling decor in Shadows of Doubt can't be placed in your apartment: hanging baskets, fairy lights, kitchen cupboards, sinks and more. The preview stays red, and your apartment stays sad.

This mod fixes that, and while it's there, it lets you recolour furniture you've already placed.

Features

Placement fix

Place things anywhere. And I mean, MOSTLY anywhere. Clip things into whatever to your heart's content.

Recolour in place

Recolour furniture you've already placed or came with your apartment including small items like cushions, telephones and plant pots - without having to replace them or play the colour roulette.

Retain pagination

The days of losing your place in the furnishing catalogue after previewing something are over. The window will reopen on the page you were last on, even when browsing between tabs until you ACTUALLY close the window (can be toggled in settings).

Lightweight, works with other mods

As far as I know, the mod doesn't conflict with other existing decor mods. All you need is BepInEx.

Recommended: BepInExConfigManager for an in-game settings menu if you want to rebind any keys/change any defaults.

Controls

  • You should be able to place items normally with IgnoreRestrictions toggled (on by default). F7 toggles this option on and off, in which case you can force placement with F8.
  • Left Shift + Click on "Place" on an item in your room decor list window will bring up the recolour window.

Configuration

BepInEx/config/cathairnowhere.sod.hangthatbasket.cfg

| Setting | Default | What it does |

|---|---|---|

| Placement / IgnoreRestrictions | true | Every spot is valid for 1x1 items |

| Placement / ToggleIgnoreRestrictionsKey | F7 | Toggle the above while placing |

| Placement / ForcePlaceKey | F8 | Place the held 1x1 item where the preview is |

| Recolour / Modifier | LeftShift | Hold while clicking Place (Room tab) to recolour |

| Catalogue / RememberPage | true | Remember your page in each decor list until the menu is closed |

| General / VerboseLogging | false | Extra log detail for bug reports |

Good to know

  • Save before experimenting. Z-fighting and items stuck in odd spots are out of my hands, I just gave you the tools:')
  • The placement fix covers items filed as 1x1. Bigger items are left to the game's own logic.

Compatibility

Built for game build 42.04 with BepInEx 6 (IL2CPP). If a game update breaks something, turn on VerboseLogging and send me the log.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.

Install these first, or the mod will not work:
