Removed Sculptor's idol icons, which easily provide checkpoints, as well as interaction icons

On your first run, part of the fun is finding the next checkpoint, merchant, door, etc. Regardless of its combat difficulty, Sekiro bows to the Jim Sterling School of Easy Mode for certain icons.

Unlike previous From games, checkpoints and interactable items will display an icon when you approach them. It doesn't matter if the icon only appears when you're next to the item. The problem is, icons can appear through walls, rocks, etc. before you know the item is there. There's not much that can hide a checkpoint or a secret door when the icon is there to guide you.

Think of how much fun the Dark Souls catacombs would be if "hidden" bonfires had these icons.

Compatibility with other UI mods:

This mod modifies 01_common.tpf.dcx and will overwrite that file. Before installing, check the contents of the \Sekiro\mods\menu\hi\ directory.

If you are using a mod that takes 01_common.sblytbnd.dcx, they may or may not be fully compatible. It depends on the exact underlying texture files that each mod has changed. In the worst case, the files will not overwrite each other, so if there is a conflict in the game, you can simply delete one of them.

For example, this mod is currently compatible with the Minimal HUD mod, A - Minimal HUD v2.0, No Enemy Awareness

The HUD's file is 01_common.sblytbnd.dcx, and mine is 01_common.tpf.dcx. Changes made by both mods are displayed correctly in the game. )

v2.0 update

Added a version that removes the interaction icon as well as the Sculptor's idol icon.

Please note that this version is very similar to the Minimal HUD mod, "Unacessary Icons". The main difference is that I kept the autosave icon in the upper right corner (I like seeing it when I create a save point.)

Install:

  • Install mod engine (com/sekiro/mods/6)
  • Unzip the zip file and copy one of the four "menu" directories to Sekiro\mods.

Original Xbox controls\with original buttons and PS4 controls\with ps4 buttons

Once the control is selected, select No Checkpoint or No Checkpoint and Interaction

After installation, your directory structure should look like this:

C:\ Program Files \ Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Sekiro \ mods \ menu \ hi \ 01_common.tpf.dcx

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
