Buff Timers Mod

🎮 **Finally no more guessing how long the buff effect is left! **

After years of waiting, I'm surprised no one has made a mod that displays buff/effect timers. It was only after I took on this project as a personal challenge that I realized why – it’s such a grueling job!

✨ Module Features

**Three separate timer types:**

  • 🐺 **Wolf** - Character buffs (from consumables, such as detoxification powder, sedative, green moss gourd, etc.)
  • ⚔️ **Sword** - God's flying snow effect (currently only this effect, ninjutsu is not included)
  • 🍬 **Sugar** - sugar/spiritual effect

**Custom options:**

  • 🔧 Adjustable timer position on screen (use arrow keys)
  • 📏 Adjustable timer size (use numpad +/- keys)
  • 🎯 Toggle show/hide timer title (use backspace or numpad * key)

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE

The game engine has a very strange behavior when handling timers:

The "Piety" skill in the Monk skill tree will increase the duration of Sugar/Spirit Drop from 30 seconds to 45 seconds. You might expect the sugar timer to start counting down at 45, but it actually still starts at 30, it just counts down slower!

So don't be surprised if you see "3 seconds passed but the timer only decreased by 1 second", this is normal.

🛠️ Installation Guide

**Recommended method (using Mod Engine):**

  • First install Sekiro Mod Engine
  • Download and extract the zip file to the Sekiro game directory (where sekiro.exe is located)
  • Open the mod_engine.ini file in a text editor
  • Set chainDInput8DLLPath to "\buff_timers.dll"
  • Start the game enjoyment module

**Alternative method (without using Mod Engine):**

Rename buff_timers.dll to dinput8.dll and place it in the Sekiro game directory

🎮 How to use

  • When the buff effect is activated, the timer will automatically display
  • Use the **arrow keys** to move the timer position
  • Use **numpad +/- keys** to resize
  • Use **Backspace** or **Numpad* keys** to toggle title display
  • All settings are automatically saved to the timer_settings.ini file

🔧 Compatibility

  • Compatible with most other mods as this is screen drawing only
  • Note: Modules that modify the actual buff duration code (such as infinite buffs, etc.) may conflict with this module

⚠️ Known issues

  • Changing resolution in game sometimes messes up the timer position
  • Activating multiple consumable buffs at the same time may display the remaining time for both on the same timer

---

🌟 **Now you can accurately control the duration of each buff effect, making the gaming experience smoother! **

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
