Talk to NPCs while aiming at their torso from the front, side, or back.
About this mod Author’s original text
Talk From Any Side
Talk From Any Side is a client-side MelonLoader mod for Schedule I. It allows
you to start a conversation while aiming at an NPC from the front, side, or
back instead of requiring you to find the small interaction area near their
face.
The added interaction area closely follows the NPC's torso. It is intentionally
kept small enough to avoid triggering while aiming beside the character.
Current version
0.2.2
Tested environment
- Schedule I 0.4.5f2
- IL2CPP game build
- Unity 2022.3.62f2
- MelonLoader 0.7.0 Open-Beta
- Windows 11
Other game or MelonLoader versions may work, but have not been tested.
Requirements
- The IL2CPP version of Schedule I
- MelonLoader installed in the game directory
S1API is not required.
Installation
- Close Schedule I.
- Install MelonLoader and launch the game once if it is not already installed.
- Copy TalkFromAnySide.dll into the game's Mods directory.
- Remove NPCInteract360_IL2Cpp.dll if it is installed. The two mods change
the same behavior and should not be used together.
- Start the game.
The default Steam location is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Schedule I\Mods
The MelonLoader console and log should show:
Talk From Any Side v0.2.2
Multiplayer
The mod only changes interaction targeting on the local client. It does not
send custom network messages, change NPC state, or modify save data.
The host does not need the mod. Each player who wants to interact with NPCs
from any side should install it on their own client.
Compatibility
- IL2CPP only
- No S1API dependency
- No save-file changes
- No configuration file
- Incompatible with mods that replace or duplicate the NPC interaction target
Uninstallation
Close the game and delete TalkFromAnySide.dll from the Mods directory.
There is no configuration or save data to remove.
Troubleshooting
If the mod does not appear to work, check:
- The game is using the IL2CPP build.
- The DLL is directly inside the Mods directory.
- NPCInteract360_IL2Cpp.dll or a similar mod is not installed.
- MelonLoader reports Talk From Any Side v0.2.2 during startup.
- MelonLoader\Latest.log does not contain an error tagged
[Talk_From_Any_Side].
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
