The Old Chronian Refit (Caelanor Mast Platforms 3.0.1)
The Old Chronian mod's Caelanor and Aelasyl refitted to fight: fighting tops
and lookout posts on their masts, lower ratlines and leaning futtock ladders
you can climb, a walkable net slung under the bowsprit, copper sheathing below
the water, davits over the frigate's stern, and a bilge pump for the frigate.
Everything is bought at the shipyard, with the ship's own parts. Nothing in the
Old Chronian mod itself is changed.
This is the same plugin that ships inside Dangerous Waters. Install one or
the other, not both: if both are present BepInEx loads one copy and skips the
other (same plugin ID). With Dangerous Waters you also get Gun Port Lids as
a shipyard option, the Caelanor's sliding fore hatch and the frigate's trim;
those are part of Dangerous Waters, not of this plugin.
This plugin replaces the old separate Caelanor Mast Platforms (2.6.2). If
you have that one, delete its folder; if you forget, BepInEx skips it anyway.
Requirements
- Sailwind, BepInEx 5 (installed by Mod Manager / r2modman)
- The Old Chronian ship mod (the ships themselves)
Optional, each adds one thing:
- Dinghies (, Pr0SkyNesis) - the Aelasyl's stern davits and
the boat in them. Without it no davits are offered.
- Old Chronian Fixes (Discord, with Old Chronian) - gives the Caelanor her
bilge pump; with it installed the Aelasyl gets the same pump. Without it she
has none.
- Shipyard Expansion (Discord) - the copper sheathing wears its copper,
matching the brig's. Without it the sheathing wears a plain copper of its own.
Old Chronian itself is a Discord mod, not, so a mod manager
cannot fetch it for you: install it by hand first.
Install
Unzip into BepInEx\plugins\. You should get:
BepInEx\plugins\CaelanorMastPlatforms\CaelanorMastPlatforms.dll
BepInEx\plugins\CaelanorMastPlatforms\CaelanorHatchFix.dll
BepInEx\plugins\CaelanorMastPlatforms\OldChronianReadable\ (the four ships, readable)
The second file is the Caelanor Hatch Walk Collider Fix (by Dixiecapt): the
Caelanor's cabin hatch has an invisible walk collider twice the length of the
opening, which blocks the companionway even with the hatch open; this slims it
to the hatch itself. If you already have it installed elsewhere, keep one copy.
Start the game. The settings file
BepInEx\config\com.dixiecapt.caelanormastplatforms.cfg (or the name your
log shows) is written on the first run; press F1 (Configuration Manager) for
the few settings there are.
What you get, and where to buy it
Take the Caelanor or the Aelasyl into any shipyard.
| Fitting | Ship | Shipyard list | Price, bought / fitted |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fighting Top, one per mast | both | Masts | 140 / 40 |
| Fighting Top + Lookout Post, one per mast | both | Masts | 220 / 60 |
| Bowsprit Netting | both | Other | Aelasyl 180 / 60, Caelanor 120 / 40 |
| Copper Sheathing | both | Other | Aelasyl 1400 / 300, Caelanor 600 / 150 |
| Stern Davits | Aelasyl | Dinghies' own davits entry | as Dinghies prices them |
| Bilge pump | Aelasyl | Other (needs Old Chronian Fixes) | - |
Fitted as she loads, nothing to buy: the lower ratlines laid rope by rope on
her own shrouds, the futtock ladders to every top, and the gap ropes where a
gun port leaves a shroud out of the Aelasyl's netting.
Climbing
Every rope lights when you look at it. Look at a horizontal line (a ratline,
a rung) and click: up. Look at a vertical line (a topmast shroud, a stay)
and click: down. The leaning futtock ropes differ by ship: on the Caelanor they
click up, like the rungs; on the Aelasyl they click down, to her deck. The
topmast shrouds above a top can also be walked, slowly, the old way.
The net
A safety net for the men on the headsails, slung under the bowsprit: tied to
the bow under the spar, its corners lashed round the catheads, its point tied
round the spar's end, the middle hanging like a hammock. Jump into it from the
bow rail and walk out to the point; i
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
