That death goes hard

About this mod Author’s original text

Installation

  • Install MelonLoader
  • Drop Mods and UserData folders into Rumble Source Directory

This mod adds configurable effects to make people's deaths more dramatic:

  • Ragdoll physics for the deceased player
  • Impact frames for the final hit

Configuration is controlled through the UIFramework mod, so you have to press F9 to access it

Features

Ragdolling

  • Can be set to activate on match end, round end, or any damage (if you hate having frames per second)
  • Fully interactable with structures and explosions
  • The dead player will become a ghost in order to fist bump you and replay/exit

Dramatic Effects

  • Silhouetted impact frames, time freezing, an extreme sound effect, shockwaves, dust plumes, the whole ninety yards
  • Varies based on the power of the killing blow
  • Separately configurable from ragdolls
  • Configurable colors
  • Option to base them off of winning/losing
  • Option to not put the players/structures in silhouette

Configurable sounds

  • The volume of sound effects for the impact frames and shockwaves can be specified
  • Dramatic Effect sounds can be changed by replacing the files under UserData/DieHarder/effect_sounds
  • -hard, -medium, and -light suffixes are used based on the dramatic-ness of the effects, but can be omitted to make universally played sounds
  • Sounds under UserData/DieHarder/ragdoll_sounds will be played when ragdolls collide with the environment
  • Any file name with the word soft in it will be played exclusively on soft impacts
  • There are also some extra fun hidden features in your MelonPreferences file

Known Issues:

  • Flatland and Voidland are apt to ragdoll you/create impact frames when entered
  • Effects and ragdolls will likely not work if activate while you have your VR dashboard open
  • Ragdoll corpses may occasionally come alive and try to grab your ankles (they also feel pain)

All effects are visible both in-game and to the Legacy camera!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
