The GodRun Theory Compatibility
Pack-specific compatibility and numerical balance patch for Risk of Rain 2.
Source and releases:
This package is intended for The God Run Theory r2modman profile. installs the DLL and its required content mods automatically; the profile export supplies the pack's matching configuration choices.
Version 2.0.2
This update corrects the balance display path and adds optional client performance controls:
- ClassicItemsReturns logbook, Cookbook, and tooltip descriptions now use the same configured values as gameplay.
- The 56 Leaf Clover gameplay patch verifies that both expected constants were replaced and reports a failure instead of claiming success if an upstream update changes the method.
- Spawned effect particle counts can be capped without removing effects or telegraphs.
- Shadows and motion vectors can be disabled on spawned particle, trail, and line effects.
- Retained corpses and simultaneous damage numbers can be capped.
- Spawned effect lights retain their lighting while their dynamic shadows can be disabled.
Performance controls are local-only, do not alter combat or networking, and appear in Risk of Options when it is installed. They use RoR2's existing effect lifecycle and perform no recurring scene scans. The existing targeted runtime guards remain independently configurable under Stability.
Existing balance and compatibility changes
- Keeps the Oppressive elite's gravity and jump-lock mechanics while changing its 200 m-tall capsule into a visible 13 m spherical bubble.
- Restores twelve ClassicItemsReturns items and rebalances their existing numbers without replacing their triggers or identities.
- Restores Artifact of Clovers with 56 Leaf Clover reduced to 0.5% per elite plus 0.1 percentage point per extra stack.
- Restores Cloudburst's five finished items at a 50% numerical scale. Blast Boot remains disabled.
- Keeps Hex3 Shard of Glass disabled because it is an effective duplicate of Starstorm 2 Fork.
- Keeps VanillaVoid Clockwork Mechanism and Enhancement Vials disabled so Nautilus owns those two corruption ingredients.
- Guards the reproduced Crystalline Lotus null reference without disabling valid Lotus behavior.
- Uses startup patches and existing game events; it performs no per-frame inventory or scene polling.
All gameplay values are configurable in BepInEx/config/com.lucie.thegodruntheorycompat.cfg. Changes to IL-patched values require restarting the game.
Every multiplayer participant should use the same DLL, item-enable configuration, and gameplay values.
Installation
Install this package through r2modman or Mod Manager, then import the current The God Run Theory profile code. Do not install a second manual copy of the DLL. After updating, launch once so BepInEx/config/com.lucie.thegodruntheorycompat.cfg is generated.
The two intentionally disabled VanillaVoid items and the other pack-wide enable/disable choices are controlled by the profile configuration, not by this package's dependency list.
Known upstream limitations
- ClassicItemsReturns 3.6.26 calculates Thallium's extra-stack duration but does not use it when applying the dot. This patch preserves that behavior and reduces the working base duration to two seconds.
- Cloudburst 0.4.6 has no separate Enigmatic Keycard shock-duration parameter. This patch reduces its proc chance and complete damage expression only.
- Modded Empyrean and Sandswept construct VFX are not removed generically because broad effect filtering could hide gameplay telegraphs. The performance module reduces their renderer cost while preserving the effects.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
