About this mod Author’s original text

this mod is part of a port of HIFU's pair of mods for SotS. This will be taken down(deprecated) once HIFU wishes to continue the project themselves.

Modding Server

Overview

  • Changes are made to post-processing (mostly Ramp Fog and Color Grading), global lighting, individual props and even entire material sets to alter the stage's appearance. For example, the variants included for Titanic Plains are inspired from various trailers - an orange one from very early footage of the game, and an overcast one vaguely similar to the console trailer.
  • Once a variant is used, it cannot be chosen for the next time the stage is loaded unless there are no other options. (Configurable)
  • Some unused stage props (most notably the border statues in Abandoned Aqueduct) may be enabled.
  • The mod currently features 84 visual variants.

Things have changed

  • a lot of commits were made between 1.0 and now and i am not that good at vfx and im not that used to what 1.0 looked like
  • please lmk via @pr_d at discord if some variants feel off or things r weird:3

Shoutouts

  • FMRadio11 for the codebase
  • SSM24 and Moffein for figuring out the networking!!
  • Nuxlar for a lot of the stages that are on here (SotS)
  • Danielle for helping w some variants (SotS)
  • Everyone who provided variant ideas (HIFU, FMRadio11, Jaysian, breadguy, Slipskip). Having existing content to work with is significantly easier even if it's just basic color ideas

Contribute

If you know a bit about like VFX and programming feel free to send us a PR @ the github, im not a vfx wizard guy like hifu and idk what to really fill in the rest with but there are still stages (like Prime Meridian or Vields) that is still yet to be varianted. thank u:3

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.

Install these first, or the mod will not work:
