HG Facelift Initiative
a personal Project of mine,
knowing that most players of ror2 can be put off playing custom Survivors that look out off place, this is interm giving the book another, more suitable cover, aim of this Initiative is to give any and all survivors that exist in ror2 a skin that fits in with Hopoo Games RoR2 Artstyle and Themes within the span of 2022 and 2023.
If you want to lend a hand, feel free to hop in.
Methodology
the idea is to breakdown the current character to remove any and all relation to their original persona, only taking their ablilties into account. From there We redesign the survivor based on those abilities and taking their original design as inspiration.
here is the list of design guidelines when doing the redesign:
- Focus on the silhouette of the survivor, if its defined enough its probably good
- No Minor Details such as faces, super small mechanical parts
- Machine based design elements need to be simple and flat, cylinder/cube/sphere etc
- design based on either a Classic Astronauts or Aliens, make it related to atleast pre-existing concepts in RoR lore.
- color scheme should at least have 4 tones of 1 base color and 1 contrasting Emission color

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
