How life support systems work

In the current implementation, any number of organs other than the brain can be removed without stroke death. However, if a soldier missing internal organs is disconnected from life support or removed from their bed, they will die immediately. If the building loses power, the hediff will stop applying to patients, so keep a dedicated battery for it if you can! Only conditions that kill pawns in the vanilla game will cause the pawn to die after being removed from life support. Life support will be applied to any soldier in the bed near the life support system.

How you use this machine is up to you; you can use it to mercilessly harvest the organs of hapless victims, or use it as a temporary stopgap until replacement organs can be obtained. Maybe you'll use it for both purposes!
