Introduction:
Added the function of avoiding friendly fire from long-range fire. When friendly forces or tamed animals are in the firing line (taking into account the shooting deviation of the weapon), long-range troops will not fire to avoid friendly fire.
At the same time, if the colonists on the front line are equipped with shields and the energy is above 10%, the long-range troops can ignore possible friendly fire and continue to fire (configured in the MOD settings). If the energy is below 10%, the long-range troops will cease fire.
You can choose to protect pets (with designated owners) or all tamed animals (use with caution on low-end machines, performance issues may occur).
HugsLib is required!

Steam page introduction machine translation warning! (It’s too long and I really don’t want to translate it. It’s probably enough to be understandable...)
Colonists with this option enabled will not fire if the cannon's path can hit friendly or neutral units (taking into account the deflection radius). The drafted colonist will look for a clean target to shoot at (or wait if there isn't one), while the hunter will reposition himself.
This should alleviate some of the micromanagement that prevents ranged colonists from shooting friendly fire without changing the way friendly fire works or reducing the power of friendly fire.

Any colonist with the appropriate weapon will display a toggle for "Avoid friendly fire" when selected (on by default; you can toggle it for individual colonists). With this, their AI automatically does the right thing.
If you manually force a colonist that's set up to avoid friendly fire to shoot enemies with friendly fire in the way, you'll see a "Cannot hit target" message, just like when LoS is blocked.
==Protective Belt==
Marksmen won't have to worry about soldiers standing in the firing line wearing shield belts with at least 10% energy, you can still attack with shield infantry while ranged troops continue to fire at them from behind. If the shield's power drops below 10% and the Pawn is still under friendly fire, the shooter will cease. When the shield exceeds 10%, they will resume firing.
This behavior can be disabled in the mod options if desired.
==Target Coverage==
If you use the game's manual aim button (the one with the B hotkey and showing the weapon's range), you'll see a red overlay from the shooter to the mouse you're pointing at (see picture). This overlay shows the potential "cone of fire" for a standard ranged weapon in the game, from the shooter to the target under the mouse (a standard weapon has a miss radius of one tile). Any pawn within the red overlay may be hit. This is a purely visual aid scheme and can be disabled from the Mod Settings menu if you don't like it. Note that pawns within 4 tiles of the shooter will not receive friendly fire, so the overlay will not mark them red, the mod will take this into account when deciding if the shooter should stop. In this example, the shooter in the upper right will not shoot the pirate in t …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
