Start With Random Weapon
Start every run in R.E.P.O. with one or more random weapons — fully configurable. Only the host needs to have this mod installed.
Features
- Start each new game owning one or several random weapons.
- Configure exactly which weapons can appear.
- Configure how many weapons are given at the start of a run.
- Compatible with multiplayer — only the host needs to have this mod installed.
- Weapons behave exactly as if you bought them from the shop.
- Configuration can be updated without restarting the game.
Changes take effect when starting a new level.
Requirements
- BepInEx Pack for R.E.P.O.
Installation
- Install BepInEx Pack.
- Place the file StartWithRandomWeapon.dll into your BepInEx/plugins folder.
- Launch the game — the configuration file will be generated automatically inside BepInEx/config.
- Open the file to customize weapon availability and general settings.
Configuration
The configuration file is located at:
BepInEx/config/com.osmarbriones.startwithrandomweapon.cfg
It contains two main sections:
[General]
- WeaponsToSpawn
Number of weapons to spawn at start (ignored if SpawnOnePerPlayer is true).
Value range: 1–50
- SpawnOnePerPlayer
If true, the mod gives exactly one random weapon per player, regardless of WeaponsToSpawn.
[Weapons]
Each weapon has a Boolean toggle that determines whether it can appear.
Example:
Item Melee Frying Pan = true
Item Gun Laser = false
Item Rubber Duck = true
- Set a value to true → this weapon is allowed to spawn.
- Set to false → this weapon will never appear.
- Changes take effect as soon as a new level starts (no restart required).

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
