Photon V4 Server Voice Fix
Fixes voice chat on self-hosted Photon Server V4 (On-Premise) setups.
Everyone in the lobby needs this mod, otherwise players without it can't send voice.
- Works with:
- SelfHostedPhoton
- PhotonServerSettings
What it does
R.E.P.O's voice chat packs audio frames in a format (ByteArraySlice) that the protocol used against a V4 server can't serialize, so every frame fails with cannot serialize(): ExitGames.Client.Photon.ByteArraySlice and nobody hears anything. This mod converts the frames to plain byte arrays before they are sent and switches voice to the classic sequenced delivery modes.
Only voice frames are touched; normal game networking is left alone.
Config
BepInEx/config/com.gil.photonvoicefix.cfg
- ForceSequencedDelivery (default true): send voice as Unreliable/Reliable instead of the Unsequenced modes.
- LogVoiceStats (default true): log frames sent/received every 5 seconds while voice is active. Handy for troubleshooting; turn off for a quieter log.
Tested On
- Photon Server V4 (v4-0-29-11263)
- R.E.P.O v0.4.4.3
Important
If you are using Photon Server V5 (paid), you do not need this mod.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
