Every valuable is alive and scared of you. Loot hops away, squirms in your hands and slips free. Herd it into the cart! Host-only.

About this mod Author’s original text

Feral Loot

The loot doesn't want to be extracted.

Every valuable in the level is a skittish little creature. Get close and it hops away. It picks the most open escape route, bounces off walls, flees down corridors, and makes all kinds of noise that monsters can hear.

How it works

  • It runs. Walk within ~6 m and the valuable hops away from you. Sprinting scares it from further away.
  • Sneak up on it. Crouch or crawl and it only notices you at less than half the distance.
  • It gets tired. After a few hops it lies there panting for a few seconds. That's your moment.
  • It squirms. Carried loot wriggles and spins in your grip.
  • It slips free. Expensive loot can wriggle out of a single player's hands and bolt. Carry it with a friend and it can't escape.
  • The cart calms it down. Once it's in a cart, the truck, or an extraction point, it goes quiet. Take it out again and it runs again.
  • It fidgets. Loot nobody is watching twitches now and then. That thump down the hall? Could be a monster. Could be a vase.

Temperament (based on value)

| | Value | Behavior |

|---|---|---|

| Lazy | < $1,000 | Short hops, tires fast, never slips |

| Skittish | $1,000+ | Faster, more stamina, sometimes slips out of your hands |

| Wild | $5,000+ | Notices you from 50% further, sprints, 8 hops of stamina, great escape artist |

By default, loot can't break from its own hops (SafeHops). You can still smash it the usual way.

Multiplayer

Only the host needs this mod. All the chaos happens in the host's physics simulation, which everyone else already sees. Your friends don't have to install anything.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
