About this mod Author’s original text
Echo Stalker
Adds a new friend-faced enemy to R.E.P.O. with its own host-authoritative behavior, animated body and hands, and captive sound.
The enemy roams slowly until it detects a player, then accelerates into a relentless chase and deals a nonlethal capture hit. It becomes invulnerable, settles beside that player, and deals another nonlethal hit every five seconds while its mouth and hands move with the captive audio. On the captured player's client, that loop is the only audible sound. The monster releases and despawns as soon as the player's synchronized health increases. Before claiming a target it can be damaged and stunned by thrown objects, but it is never player-grabbable.
Multiplayer
Every player in the lobby needs this mod and its dependencies installed. Use the same profile or share your profile code with the group.
Prototype defaults
- Approximate visual height: 0.8 m (roughly half a player and slightly larger than the Duck)
- Detection range: 16 m
- Roam speed: 1.7 m/s
- Chase speed: 8.5 m/s base, plus up to 4 m/s of distance-based catch-up speed
- Capture damage: 20 immediately, then every 5 seconds while latched (each hit is clamped to leave at least 1 health)
- Captive audio: target-only 2D loop beginning at 0:00; all other local audio is muted until release
- Release condition: any synchronized health increase on the captured player (including self-healing)
- Thrown-object stun mass: 2 kg
This is an early prototype. Balance, visuals, and audio may change.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
