Van der Linde's Vision - A Visual Overhaul (VDLV)
"Real", oh how I hate that word. Such a lack of imagination! - Dutch van der Linde
🌟Mod Overview
This visual mod completely changes the visual style of the game, making it look and feel more realistic and natural. Every weather has been completely reworked with more realistic conditions and appearance.
✨ Main features
🌞 Fully redesigned lighting and shadows
- Significantly adjusted direct sunlight and moonlight to make them more realistic
- Sunlight has bright rays and sharp shadows
- Moonlight is softer and cooler, with softer shadows (the original moonlight effect is too exaggerated)
- Weather conditions determine the intensity of direct sunlight from the sun and moon
- Adjust lighting for better, more natural ambient occlusion and contrast
☁️ Realistic depiction of clouds
- Extensive research ensures accurate cloud appearance and characteristics for every weather
- Each cloud type has different lighting and height
- Certain cloud types are more active at different times of day and cloud location
- Restored cloud shadows, intensity and darkness depending on cloud type (no more bright direct light from sunlight penetrating three layers of clouds)
🌦️ Improved weather transitions and probabilities
- The probability of each type of weather occurring in different areas is different
- Take advantage of each type of weather in different areas (unlike the original where many weathers don't appear at all)
- Adjusted weather transitions to be slower (no longer changes from sunny to thunderstorm in 40 seconds)
- Weather duration is more persistent (no weather switching every minute)
- The overall weather flow has been improved and no longer appears chaotic
🌌Reproduced night sky
- Completely revamped the overall look of the night sky to make it more realistic
- The Milky Way is more permanently visible in all kinds of weather
- Add more stars and more obvious constellations
⛈️Customized storm weather
- Introducing custom weather with localized storms in the mountains and southern Lemoyne areas
- Storm has dynamic growth effects and has been fully polished
- Take advantage of the game's ability to manually position clouds to create this kind of weather
- Can appear in almost all areas of the map with appropriate transformation effects
🛠️ Other improvements and quality of life adjustments
- ✅ Adjust and improve dusk color and duration
- ✅Real wind speed for all weather
- ✅ Fixed original issues (such as zombie indoor lighting, sky strips, etc.)
- ✅ Remade precipitation particle effect
- ✅ Improved TAA (Temporal Anti-Aliasing)
- ✅ Improved water reflection and puddle effects
- ✅ Remove vignetting effect
- ✅ Removed glowing pickup effect
- ✅ Reduce but not completely disable color correction
- ✅ Revised and improved mission weather

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
