Fixed a lag issue when riding a horse in town
Towns stutter fix
🐎 Function introduction
This mod fixes the infamous RAM dump stuttering issue, also known as horse-stop stuttering. No matter how powerful your computer is or what graphics settings you use, the game will drop your FPS to around 30 for about a second, followed by a 3-5GB drop in RAM usage.
🌆 Problem performance
This stuttering can happen anywhere on the map, but is more common in towns, especially when riding in Saint-Denis.
🔧 Technical background
This mod is inspired by OmdeHoek's "Stutter fix" mod. I contributed to the mod and determined which specific change in the config file fixed the stuttering issue, but the fix resulted in excessive VRAM usage.
After further research, I found more information in the config files and found a way to fix the stuttering without causing excessive VRAM usage.
⚠️ Notes
- If you run the game in DX12 mode, the mod may not work properly, please switch to Vulkan mode
- This is a "Gameconfig.xml" module. If you use other game configuration modules, conflicts may occur.
- The fix requires only a simple change to the game config file
📦 Installation instructions
Copy the "Enhanced Stutter fix" folder to the lml folder in the game directory
**Require:**
- Lenny's mod loader
- scripthook
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
